Section 1. A tax is hereby imposed upon all persons enngaged
in Vw business of selling tangible personal property at retail in this
city at the rate of one-half of ove,par cent of the gross receipts from
suuoh sales made, in the course of such business addle this ordinance is
in effect, in accordance with the provisions of Sec. 23-111 of the Revised
Cities axed Villages Act.
Section 2. kvery such person engaged in such business in the
city shall file on or before the fifteenth day of each calaxxxar month,
the report to the Stater Department of Revwme required by Section 'three
of •Asa Act in Relation to a Tax upon Persom engaged in the Business of
Selling Tangible Personal Property to Purchasers for Use or Consumption"
approved June 28, 1933, as amended, and sha11 file a duplicate of such
report with the city clerk.
Section 3. At the time such report Is filed, tiers shall be
paid to the State Department of Revenue the amount of tax hereby imposed
on account of the receipts from oi►Us of tangible personal property
during the preceding month,.
Section L. The city clerk is hereby directed to transact
to Ve State Department of Revenue a certified copy of this ordinance
not later than five (5) days after the effective date of this crdinance.
Section 5. This ordiname shall be published within ten (10)
days of its enactment as provided in Section 10-3 of the "Revised Cities
and Villages A*et" and shall be effective from. and after the first day
of the calendar tenth west following the expiration of the ten (10) day
publl.cation period. All ordinaness or parts of ordinances in conflict
with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Passed and adopted by the Governing body of said City this
18th day of July, A.D. 1955.

Section 10-3 of the Revised Cities and Villages Act in that publication
Of the said Ordinance was nade in the Malienry Plaindealer, a newspaper
published and circulated 'within the City cif McHenry, on the 21st day of
July, 1955.
