AN ORDINANCE
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MCHENRY, MCHENRY
COUNTY, ILLINOIS, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 25-18 of the Municipal Code, City of McHenry,
Illinois, relating to Taxicab/Limousine service is hereby amended by
increasing the number of taxicab/limousine licenses in the City from four
to five.
SECTION 2. Section 25-29 relating to "cab stands" in the City is
hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. Section 25-30 (b) relating to the State safety
inspection is hereby amended to read as follows:
"(b) As provided by Statutes, all taxicabs/limousines under
this Article shall be subjected to a semi-annual safety test
at an official State testing station. The State issued
Certificate of Safety showing a number of the month of the
next inspection period that the vehicle is subject to
inspection, shall be displayed in a prominent place on each
taxicab/limousine."
SECTION 4. Section 25-30 (d) relating to City inspections of
taxicabs/limousines is hereby amended to read as follows:
" (d) At the time of application for a City license, a copy of
the State issued Certificate of Safety then in effect shall
be filed with the City Clerk. No City license shall be issued
without the filing of the copy of the Certificate of Safety."
SECTION 5. Article XVI of Chapter 13 of the Municipal Code,
commonly known as the Traffic & Motor Vehicle Ordinance relating to the
regulation of Taxicabs, being a duplication of the Municipal Code's
Section 25, Vehicles for Hire (Taxicabs/Limousines) is hereby repealed
in its entirety.
SECTION 6. Any person, firm or corporation violating any provision
of this ordinance shall be fined not less than Twenty Five Dollars
($25.00) nor more than Seven Hundred Fifty Dollars ($750.00) for each
offense committed on each day during, or on which, a violation occurs or
continues.
SECTION 7. All ordinances, or parts thereof, in conflict with the
terms and provisions hereof, be and the same are hereby repealed to the
extent of such conflict.
SECTION 8. This ordinance shall be published in pamphlet form by
and under the authority of the corporate authorities of the City of
McHenry, Illinois.
SECTION 9. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage, approval and publication, as provided by law.
