R-99- 012
WHEREAS, Indeck Energy Services of Buffalo Grove is seeking a conditional
use permit to build two gas turbine electric generators, commonly referred to as peaker
plants, on a 177-acre parcel located south of Woodstock within one and one-half miles of
the City limits; and
WHEREAS, in response to the McHenry City Council's direction, the
Environmental Advisory Commission investigated the peaker plant proposal; and
WHEREAS, the operation of the peaker plant for 1500 hours will produce
approximately 237 tons of pollutants; and
WHEREAS, a strong possibility exists of pollutants impacting the McHenry,
community; and
WHEREAS, the peaker plan may tax an already over -taxed water supply; and
WHEREAS, the public health, safety, morals, comfort, and general welfare of the
McHenry community is of utmost importance; and
WHEREAS, the proposed plant will not be utilized for the exclusive benefer of
` McHenry County; and
WHEREAS, the McHenry Environmental Advisory commission recommended
the City of McHenry oppose the conditional use permit for the peaker power plant.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of McHenry go on
record as opposing the conditional use permit for the construction, installation, and
operation of the Indeck Energy Services of Buffalo Grove Peaker Power Plant in
McHenry County.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this resolution be incorporated into the
minutes of this meeting.
