HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 09/04/1946 - City Council COUNCIL ROOM SEPTEMBER 4TH, 1946 The City Council met in regular semi-monthly meeting with Mayor Overton presiding. Aldermen present: Althoff, Buss, Regner, MOTonyan. Absent: Freund. Motion by Regner, seconded by Althoff, that the minutes of the last regular meeting be approved as read. Motion carried. Motion by Althoff, seconded by Tongan, that the treasurer' s report be approved as read. Motion carried. Motion by Tonyan, seconded by Althoff, that the collector's report be approved as read. Motion carried. Motion by Buss, seconded by Regner, that the clerk's report be approved as read. Motion carried. Feltz Salary .135.00 u Mayme Buss Clerical salary 20.00 4 Public Service Company Power do light 42.67 '1 Carey Electric Shop Replace coil 2.00 *1 Alderman Regner presented the following resolution and moved its adoption and approval: 110 WHEREAS, the bridge spanning Fox River at Pearl Street, McHenry Illinois is of vital importance, and WHEREAS, said bridge is badly in need of maintenance repairs, and WHEREAS, it is deemed advisable to take action before said bridge reaches a state of delapidation beyond repairing, and WHEREAS, members of the County Board of Supervisors have previously expressed a willingness to make necessary repairs, and WHEREAS, increasing amount of traffic, with heavy through traffic over State Highway Bridge (Route #120) , warrants the continued use of said bridge, and WHEREAS, the assessed valuation of and revenue from McHenry Town- ship has reached a high level, and WHEREAS., proper maintenance of said bridge is imperative to insure safe travel, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council , of the City of McHenry, respectfully petition the County Board of Super- visors of McHenry County in person for immediate action in making afore- said repairs. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this petition be submitted to both the Supervisor of McHenry Township, Math N. Schmitt, and to the Board of Supervisors at their next regular meeting or as soon as it is practical to do so. * * * The motion was seconded by Alderman Buss and carried unanimously.
