MAY 1, 1950
The City Council met for the regular semimonthly meeting with
• Mayor Freund presiding. Aldermen present: Althoff, Anderson, Freund,
Rothermel, Thennes, Vycital. Absent: None.
Motion by Althoff, seconded by Anderson, to approve the following
salaries for the ensuing fiscal year: Police Chief, $2 0.00 per month; two
police officers, $210.00 per month (Stipulated that Police Chief and officers
furnish their own uniforms; further stipulated that city employees be granted
two weeks vacation or two weeks sick leave during the fiscal year); Supt.
Waterworks, Sewer and Streets, $210.00 per month; two employees in streets,
waterworks and sewer departments, $190.00 pach per month; Caretaker of Dis-
posal Plant, $135.00 per month. Motion carried.
Motion by Anderson, seconded by Freund, to set the salary of the
City Attorney for the ensuing year at $200.00. Upon roll call on the motion,
Althoff replied "not voting". The following aldermen voted "yes": Anderson,
Freund, Rothermel, Thennes, Vycital. Motion carried.
Ma br:Freund appointed the following standing committees for the
year:
Finance - Vycital, Althoff, Freund
License - Althoff, Rothermel, Thennes
Street and Alley - Freund, Anderson, Thennes
Water and Sewer - Althoff, Freund, Vycital
Sidewalks - Anderson, Thennes, Rothermel
Public Property - Freund, Thennes, Anderson
Ordinance - Rothermel, Anderson, Thennes
Purchasing - Anderson, Freund, Vycital
Building Codes and Permits - Vycital, Anderson, Rothermel
Band - Thennes, Althoff, Rothermel
Athletic Field - Althoff, Freund, Vycital
Library - Walsh, Anderson, Thennes
Motion by Vycital, seconded by Althoff, to approve the appointmeit
of standing committees as made by the Mayor. Motion carried.
Motion by Althoff, seconded by Thennes, to pass and approve
ordinance designating Mayor Freund, Alderman Althoff and Alderman Vycital
as the Board of Local Improvements. Motion carried.
Mayor Freund appointed the following officers and employees for
the ensuing year:
Attorney - John E. Looze
Collector - Mayme Buss
Police - John J. McCarthy, Chief; Elmer R. Murphy,
1111 Joseph C. Grobel
Supt. Waterworks, Sewer and Streets - Jack Smith
Caretaker of Disposal Plant - Fred C. Feltz
Board of Health - Dr. C. W. Klontz, A. J. Kamholz,
Leo J. Winkel
Motion by Althoff, seconded by Rothermel, to approve the appoint-
ments of officers and employees as made by the Mayor. Notion carried.

Motion by Freund, seconded by Althoff, to hire the firm of
J. W. North & Co. to make the annual audit of city books. Motion carried.
Motion by Thennes, seconded by Anderson, to pay the following bill
covering surety bonds for city officers:
#7667 Stoffel & Reihansperger $295.00
#7668 Employers' Liability Assurance Corporation 10.00
Motion carried.
110 Motion by Althoff, seconded by Thennes, to approve the application
of American Legion Post #I91 for Class "F" alcoholic beverage license and
to approve the following 'Class "A" alcoholic beverage license applications:

Motion carried.
Motion by Freund, seconded by Rothermel, to approve the applications
of Thomas A. Bolger and H. F. Nye for Class "C" packaged liquor licenses.
Motion carried.
Motion by Thennes, seconded by Rothermel, to authorize the purchasing
committee to purchase emergency motor for sewage disposal plant as per speci-
fications drawn by Fairbanks-Morse Co. Motion carried.
Motion by Freund,;;seconded by Anderson, to adjourn. Motion carried.
