HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 10/15/1951 - City Council • COUNCIL ROOM OCTOBER 15, 1951 The City Council met in regular semi-monthly meeting with Mayor Freund presiding. Aldermen present: Althoff, Anderson, Freund, Thennes, Vycital. Absent: Rothermel. • Motion by Anderson, seconded by Freund, to approve the minutes of the last meeting as read. Motion carried. Jack Smith, Supt. of Streets & Waterworks, Fred Feltz, Disposal Plant Operator, and August Moritz, Police Officer, were present to make reports on their various departments. Mayor Freund reported concern of drivers and possibility of safety measures to avoid accidents at the corner of Main and Front Streets, with request that the entire Council and the police department study the situation and bring in recommendations. Alderman Thennes reported on plans to proceed with temporary walkway on Elgin Road Bridge, also the agreement of property owners to construct sidewalks on West Side of Elgin Road. The project is being carried out in the interest of safeguarding pedestrians, particularly the children attending the new grade school. Motion by Althoff, seconded by Freund, to adjourn.
