HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 04/29/1952 - City Council SPECIAL MEETING APRIL 29, 1952 At the close of the Annual Meeting, Mayor Freund called a special meeting of the City Council for the purpose of acting on license applications, appointments and other business that might come before the 1/1 Council. Aldermen present: Althoff, Anderson, Freund, Rothermel, Thennes, Vycital. Absent: None. Motion by Althoff, seconded by Rothermel, to approve applications submitted by the following named for Class "A" Alcoholic Beverage Licenses: Carl Behnke Herman C.Buck and Erma Buck Ernie Freund and Carolyn Justen Winfield W. Hagberg Leona Henschel Luke Hickman Frank J. Holt McHenry Country Club Harold F. Miller Frank Nell A. E. Noonan, Sr. and Allen E. Noonan, Jr. Bernard J. Peschke Al Phannenstill d/b/a Sportsmens Inn Ernesto Pieroni R. Place, Inc. Helen Marie Stroud and Florence Ruth Weddige John A. Thennes Gus Unti Motion carried. Motion by Anderson, seconded by Vycital, to approve the application of the McHenry American Legion Post No. 491, Inc. for Class "F" Alcoholic Beverage License. Motion carried. Motion by Thennes, seconded by Anderson, to approve the applications of Thomas P. Bolger and H. F. Nye for Class "C" Packaged Liquor Licenses. Motion carried. Motion by Rothermel, seconded by Anderson, to designate the salary of the Chief of Police at $262.50 per month and to increase the present salaries of other police officers, street department employees and caretaker of sewer plant in the amount of 5 per cent. Motion carried. Mayor Freund announced the following appointments for the ensuing year: II/1 City Attorney - John E. Looze City Collector - Mayme Buss Chief of Police - Harold Alm Police Officers - Clyde E. Rhoades and John R. Weichmann and August Moritz Supt. Waterworks, Sewer and Streets - Jack Smith Employees - Anton H. Freund and Philip M. Thennes Caretaker of Disposal Plant - Fred C.Feltz Board of Health - Dr. W. A. Nye, A. J. Kamholz and Leo J. Motion carried. Motion by Vycital, seconded by.Thennes, to hire the firm of J. W. North & Co. to make the annual audit of the city books. Motion carried. Mayor Freund presided and all aldermen were present. 110 Motion by Althoff, seconded by Anderson, that the minutes of the last meeting be approved as read. Motion carried. Motion by Rothermel, seconded by Vycital, that the treasurer's report for the month of April be approved as read. Motion carried. Motion by Thennea, seconded by Althoff, that the clerks report for the month of April be approved as read. Motion carried. Motion by Anderson, seconded by Thennes, that the treasurer's annual report be approved as read. Motion carried. Motion by Althoff, seconded by Rothermel, that the clerk's annual report be approved as read. Motion carried. Reported violations under the ordinance governing the licenses were discussed and full agreement reached as to compliance with regulations. Motion by Althoff, seconded by Thennes, to adjourn.
