APRIL 28, 1953
Following adjournment of the Annual Meeting, the City Council re-
convened in a special meeting for the purpose of acting on Alcoholic Beverage
License applications, appointments and other business that might come before
the Council.
With or Freund presiding, the following roll call was recorded:
Anderson, Buchert, Freund, Johnson, Rothermel, Thennes. Ebsent: None.
Mayor Freund appointed the following standing committees for the
ensuing Fiscal year:
Finance - Freund, Thennes, Anderson
License w Anderson, Rothermel, Buchert
Street & Alley - Rothermel, Buchert, Johnson
Water and Sewer - Thennes, Rothermel, Johnson
Sidewalks - Buchert, Anderson, Rothermel
Public Property - Anderson, Freund, Buchert
Ordinance - Johnson, Thennes, Freund
Purchasing - Freund, Johnson, Thennes
Building Codes and Permits - Thennes, Rothermel, Johnson
Band - Buchert, Freund, Anderson
Athletic Field - Johnson, Buchert, Freund
Library - Rothermel, Thennes, Walsh
Motion by Anderson, seconded by Freund, to approve the appointments
of standing committees as made by the Mayor. Motion carried.
Mayor Freund made the following appointments:
City Collector - Mayme Buss
Chief of Police -► Harold Aim
Board of Health - Dr. C. W. Klonts, A. J. Kamholz, Leo J. Winkel
Motion by Johnson, seconded by Rothermel, to approve,the appointments
as made by the Mayor. Motion carried.
Motion by Freund, seconded by Buchert, to hire J. W. North and Company
to make the annual audit of city books. Motion carried.
Motion by Buchert, seconded by Anderson, to pass and approve ordinance
naming Mayor Freund, Alderman Rothermel andAlderman Thennes as the Board of
Local Improvements. Motion carried.
a Mayor Freund appointed the following as members of the Zoning Board of
Appeals: Floyd E. Covalt, Chairman; Henry B. Tonyan; Edward J. Thennes, Carl J.
Freund and John H. Greene. *
Motion by Anderson, seconded by Buchert, to approve the appointment of
the Zoning Board of Appeals as made by the Mayor. Motion carried.
Motion by Rothermel, seconded by Johnson, to designate the week
beginning May 10th as "Clean-.Up Week" in,the City of McHenry for the current
year. Motion carried.

Motion by Thennes, seconded by Johnson, to designate the City Attorney's
annual salary as $200.00 and the following monthly salaries for the ensuing
year: Chief of Police, $262.50; Police Officers, $231.00; Supt. Streets, Alleys,
Taterworks and Sewer, $231.00; Employees in Streets, Alleys, Waterworks and
Sewer departments, $220.50; stipulating two weeks paid vacation or sick leave.
Motion carried.
Motion by Thennes, seconded by Rothermel, to approve the applications
of the following for Class "A" Alcoholic Beverage Licenses:

Motion by Johnson, seconded by Freund, to approve the applications
of the following for Class "C" Alcoholic Beverage Licenses:

Motion carried
Motion by Anderson, seconded by Thennes, to approve the applications of
the following for Class "F" Alcoholic Beverage Licenses:

McHenry Lodge Loyal Order of Moose #691
Motion carried
Motion by Freund, seconded by Rothermel, to adjourn. Motion carried.
