HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 03/21/1955 - City Council REGULAR MEETING MARCH 21, 1955 The City Council met in regular semi-monthly meeting with Mayor Freund presiding. Aldermen present: Freund, Johnson, Rothermel, Thennes. Absents Anderson, Buchert. Motion by Thennes, seconded by Johnson, to approve the minutes of the last regular meeting and the special meeting held March 21, 1955. Motion carried. Motion by Rothermel, seconded by Johnson, to purchase road grader from Clarence Regner for the sum of $40.00, plus old grader now owned by the city. Motion carried. V\ Motion by Thennes, seconded by Freund, to pass and approve resolution to State of Illinois Division of Highways regarding breakage of pavement at the corner of Rts. 31 and 120. Motion carried. Motion by Rothermel, seconded by Freund, to pass and approve resolution granting zoning variation to McHenry County Farmers' Co-operative Association for bulk storage of gasoline and oil as recommended by the Zoning Board of Appeals. Motion carried. Motion by Freund, seconded by Thennes, to approve contract for engineering services, in connection with Motor Fuel Tax Construction and Maintenance Program, between Waldemar A. Rakow and the City of McHenry. Motion carried. Motion by Johnson, seconded by Thennes, that the City of McHenry enforce regulations requiring dikes around gasoline and fuel oil tanks at McHenry County Farmers' Cooperative Association and Fuel Oil Company locations, providing such requirement is not covered under state regulations. Motion carried. Motion by Rothermel, seconded by Thennes, to amend ordinance governing sidewalk installations in residential areas to provide payment on the part of the city in the amount of ten (10) cents per square foot. Motion carried. Motion by Freund, seconded by Johnson, to pass and approve ordinance fixing the polling places and designating judges and clerks for city election to be held April 19, 1955. FREUND, MAYOR COUNCIL Roam MARCH 21ST, 1955 A special meeting of the City Council was called by the mayor for the purpose of hearing and reviewing engineer's plans for enlarging facilities at the sewerage disposal plant. All members of the council were present. City Engineer W. A. Rakow and Consulting Engineer Robert Anderson presented preliminary plans. Following a visit to the present plant, the engineers were advised to proceed with further study as to placing new equipment at present site. Motion by Freund, seconded by Buchert, to adjourn.
