MAY 2, 1955
The City Council met in regular semi-monthly meeting with Mayor Freund
presiding. Aldermen present: Antonson, Brown, Buchert, Gausden, Johnson, Rothermel.
Absent: None.
Motion by Rothermel, seconded by Buchert, that the minutes of the annual
meeting and the special meeting held April 26, 1955 be approved as read. Motion
carried.
Motion by Johnson, seconded by Antonson, that the treasurer's report be
approved as read. Motion carried.
Motion,+by Brown, seconded by Buchert, that the clerk's report be approved
as read. Motion carried.
Motion by Rothermel, seconded by Brown, to approve the appointments of
the following named officers and standing committees as made by Mayor Freund:

Chief of Police - Harold Alm
Assistant Chief of Police - Joseph C. Grobel
Police officer - John R. Weichmann

Motion by Johnson, seconded by Buchert, that salaries of the above
appointees be the same as designated last year. Motion.carried.
4 Motion by Antonson, seconded by Buchert, to pass and approve ordinance
designating Mayor Freund, Alderman Rothermel and Alderman Johnson as the Board of
Local Improvements. Motion carried.
Motion by Rothermel, seconded by Brown, to pass and approve an ordinance
annexing lands to the City of McHenry (Cooney Heights as described). Motion carried.
Motion by Johna n, seconded by Gausden, to pass and approve ordinance
regulating the disposal of junked or unused ice boxes. Motion carried.

Motion by Johnson seconded by Antonson, to approve plat of A. P. Freund's
Millstream Park Addition Unit No. 2. Motion carried.
Motion by Buchert, seconded by Antonson, to pay the following bills as
approved by the finance committee:

Motion by Gausden, seconded by Johnson, to hire J. W. North & Co. to make
the annual audit of city accounts. Motion carried.
Motion by Rothermel, seconded by Antonson, to advertise for bids for new
police car, bids to be received at the next regular meeting, May 16th. Motion carried.
Motion by Brown, seconded by Gausden, to place notice in the McHenry Plain-
dealer advising that applications will be taken for employment in the Streets and
Waterworks departments. Motion carried.
Motion by Brown, seconded by Gausden, to adjourn. Motion carried.
