HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 05/02/1955 - City Council REGULAR MEETING MAY 2, 1955 The City Council met in regular semi-monthly meeting with Mayor Freund presiding. Aldermen present: Antonson, Brown, Buchert, Gausden, Johnson, Rothermel. Absent: None. Motion by Rothermel, seconded by Buchert, that the minutes of the annual meeting and the special meeting held April 26, 1955 be approved as read. Motion carried. Motion by Johnson, seconded by Antonson, that the treasurer's report be approved as read. Motion carried. Motion,+by Brown, seconded by Buchert, that the clerk's report be approved as read. Motion carried. Motion by Rothermel, seconded by Brown, to approve the appointments of the following named officers and standing committees as made by Mayor Freund: Motion carried. Attorney - John E. Looze . Collector - Mayme Buss Chief of Police - Harold Alm Assistant Chief of Police - Joseph C. Grobel Police officer - John R. Weichmann Operator of Disposal Plant - Joe J. Diedrich Board of Health Dr. C. W. Klontz, Carl N. Weber, Leo J. Winkel Standing Committees: Finance - Johnson, Gausden, Rothermel License - Buchert, Rothermel, Anderson Street and Alley - Rothermel, Buchert, Antonson Water and Sewer - Gausden, Rothermel, Johnson Sidewalks - Buchert, Brown, Antonson Public Property - Antonson, Brown, Buchert Ordinance - Brown, Johnson, Gausden Purchasing - Johnson, Gausden, Brown Building Codes and Permits - Rothermel, Gausden, Johnson Band - Antonson, Bucherto Brown Board of Local Improvements - Geo. Motion.carried. 4 Motion by Antonson, seconded by Buchert, to pass and approve ordinance designating Mayor Freund, Alderman Rothermel and Alderman Johnson as the Board of Local Improvements. Motion carried. Motion by Rothermel, seconded by Brown, to pass and approve an ordinance annexing lands to the City of McHenry (Cooney Heights as described). Motion carried. Motion by Johna n, seconded by Gausden, to pass and approve ordinance regulating the disposal of junked or unused ice boxes. Motion carried. Motion by Brown, seconded by Gausden, to place notice in the McHenry Plain- dealer advising that applications will be taken for employment in the Streets and Waterworks departments. Motion carried.
