MARCH 19, 1956
The City Council met in regular semi-monthly meeting with Mayor Freund
. presiding. Aldermen present: Antonson, Brown, Dixon, Gausden, Kauss. Absent:
Buchert.
Motion by Brown, seconded by Gausden, to approve the minutes of the
last meeting as read. Motion carried.
A petition was presented by residents of Kent (Maple) Avenue, west of
Freund Avenue, requesting the city to take steps necessary to improve roadway
and correct hazardous condition of bridge crossing this street.
Motion by Brown, seconded by Antonson, to approve the application of
McHenry Post No. 491 American Legion for permit to sponsor carnival June 30th to
July 4th (inclusive), 1956 on grounds owned by the applicaiht. Motion carried.
Alderman Kauss presented an Ordinance providing for combining the Water
and Sewer departments. Motion by Brown, seconded by Dixon, to pass and approve
the ordinance as read. Motion carried.
Alderman Antonson presented an Ordinance pertaining sale of $179,000.00
revenue bonds to provide for addition to the sewage treatment plant.
Motion by Gausden, seconded by Kauss, to pass and approve the ordinance
as read. Motion carried.
Motion by Gausden, seconded by Antonson, to approve resolution, as read,
supporting plan to form a park district. Motion carried.
Motion by Gausden, seconded by Brown, to send letter to A. P. Freund
requesting immediate action in correcting hazardous condition of bridge crossing
Kent (Maple) Avenue and that plans (blue prints) and specifications for bridge be
submitted to the City Council for approval by the City Engineer. Motion carried.
Motion by Antonson, seconded by Gausden, to adjourn. Motion carried.
