MAY 7, 1956
The City Council met in regular semimonthly meeting with Mayor
Freund presiding. Aldermen present: Antonson, Brown, Buchert, Dixon,
Gausden, Kauss. Absent: None.
1111 Motion by Gausden, seconded by Kauss, that the minutes of the annual
meeting and the special meeting held April 30, 1956 be approved as read.
Motion carried.
Motion by Buchert, seconded by Antonson, that the following bills be
paid as approved by the finance committee:

Alderman Antonson presented an ordinance amending ordinance pertaining
Water and Sewer rates. Following the reading of the ordinance presented, Alderman

Gausden, seconded by Aldermen Kauss, moved that the ordinance be passed and approved.
Voting aye - Antonson, Brown, Buchert, Dixon, Gausden, Kauss.
Voting nay - None
Mayor Freund declared the motion carried.
Motion by Kauss, seconded by Buchert, to approve the application of
St. Mary's Church for permit to sponsor carnival on the church property August
18th and 19th, 1956. Motion carried.

Motion by Gausden, seconded by Antonson, to approve the appointments
as made by the mayor. Motion carried.
Motion by Antonson, seconded by Gausden, to pass and approve ordinance
naming Mayor Freund, Alderman Buchert and Alderman Brown as the Board of Local
Improvements. Motion carried.
Motion by Antonson, seconded by Brown, to approve the following salaries
effective May 1, 1956:
Joseph Diedrich - Supt. Water & Sewer - $i50.00 per month
Joseph Diedrich - Overtime salary - $2.50 per hour
Police Department:
Joseph Grobel (chief) - $375.00 per month
John Weichmann - $330.00 " "
Norbert Yegge - $320.00 " "
William Pearson - $320.00 " "
Harold Bell - $320.00 " "
Harold Aim - 320.00 " '�
Overtime salaries $2.00 per hour
Streets & Alleys:
Jack Smith - $320.00 per month

Motion by Kauss, seconded by Antonson, to designate the City
Attorney's salary for the ensuing year as $300.00 per year. Motion carried.
Motion by Gausden, seconded by Brown, to hire J. W. North & Co. to
make the annual audit of city books. Motion carried.
Motion by Gausden, seconded by Kauss, to authorize the purchase of
a moveable backstop for the city baseball diamond at a cost not to exceed
$75.00. Motion carried.
SMotion by Antonson, seconded by Buchert to adjourn. Motion carried.
