MAY 6TH, 1957
The City Council met in regular semi-monthly meeting with Mayor Freund
presiding. Aldermen present: Antonson, Bolger, Brown, Holly, Pitzen, Thennes.
Motion by Brown, seconded by Antonson, to approve the minutes of the
annual meeting and the special meeting held April 25, 1957. Motion carried.
Motion by Antonson, seconded by Thennes, to approve the treasurer's report
as read. Motion carried.
Motion by Brown, seconded by Holly, to approve the clerk's report as
read. Motion carried.
Motion by Antonson, seconded by Thennes, to approve the following appoint-
ments of Standing Committees as made by Mayor Freund:

SMotion by Thennes, seconded by Bolger, to instruct the City Clerk to
notify the McHenry Boone Creek Corporation that usage of Lot #1, Block #1, in
Venice Park Addition Unit No. 1 must comply with restricted variation granted to
allow parking for theater patrons. Motion carried.
Motion by Thennes, seconded by Brown, to amend contract between the City
of McHenry and Lakeland Construction Co., Inc. for proposed lift station in Anne ,
Street and 6" discharge line to Grove Street, Edgebrook Heights Addition adding

the following: "And it is also understood and agreed that if in the opinion of
the Engineer of said City, steel sheeting is not required during construction of
work herein provided for, the party of the second part shall reimburse the party
of the first part the sum of two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500.00)."

Motion by Brown, seconded by Pitzen, to pay W. A. Rakow and Associates the
sum of $891.00 for engineering services in connection with replacing inverted syphon ./#120
across Boone Creek. Motion carried.

Motion by Thennes, seconded by Antonson, to establish the salary of
the Chief of Police at $475.00 per month, also to establish the starting salaries
of police officers during their first year of employment by the City at $350.00,
increasing to $375.00 the second year and $400.00 the third year. Further that
the Chief and Police Officers shall furnish their own uniforms. Further that
a two week vacation or two week sick leave be granted after the first year of
employment. Motion carried.
Motion by Brown, seconded by Thennes, to pass and approve resolution
designating the McHenry State Bank as depository of funds and moneys of the City
of McHenry in:custody of Thomas F. Bolger as City Treasurer. Motion carried.
Motion by Thennes, seconded by Antonson, to accept the proposal of
Smith Lawn Mower Sales and Service to make repairs on Toro mower. Motion carried.
Motion by Brown, seconded by Antonson, to advertise for sealed proposals
for installation of traffic control signals at the intersection of Elm Street and
Richmond Road and at the intersection of Elm Street and Green Street, to be received
until 8 P.M., C.D.S.T., June 3, 1957. Motion carried.
