HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 09/16/1957 - City Council REGULAR MEETING SEPTEMBER 16TH, 1957 The City Council met in regular semi-monthly meeting with Mayor Freund presiding. Aldermen present: Bolger, Brown, Holly, Pitzen, Thennes. Absents None. . Motion by Holly, seconded by Bolger, to approve the minutes of the last meeting as read. Motion carried. Motion by Brown, seconded by Thennes, to pass and approve resolution opposing any reclassification or variation other than "R-1" Residential pertaining property described in notice titled "In The Matter Of The Application Of George Schuman and Robert Gillespie For Rezoning Or Variation Of Zoning Classification", letter of notification as to action to be sent to the Chairman of the McHenry County Zoning Board of Appeals. Motion carried. Motion by Brown, sedonded by Thennes, to pay the McHenry Chamber of Commerce the sum of $350.00 to be used for Christmas lights and decorations #12294 throughout the city. Motion carried. A delegation of businessmen, headed by Harry Dean, President of the McHenry Chamber of Commerce, requested the Council to change parking meters on Green Street and Riverside Drive from 2-hour to 1-hour limit and to put parking meters in operation on Friday nights between the hours of 6 P.M. and 9 P.M. Following discussion oil parking meter changes, the Clerk was instructed to contact the Duncan Meter Co. to determine cost of changing meters to 1-hour limit. Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Holly, to pass and approve election ordinance designating polling place and naming judges and clerks for special election to be held October 10, 1957. Motion carried. Motion by Brown, seconded by Pitzen, to pass and approve resolutions appropriating $3000.00 Motor Fuel Tax funds for payment of bonds due January 1, 1958 under section 2B-C.S. (Green Street Bridge) and reduction of tax levy in same amount. Motion carried. Motion by Thennes, seconded by Pitzen, to enter into agreement for construction and repairs of sanitary sewer to serve the McHenry Hospital and Arthur Tonyan residence for the estimated amount of $1350.00, cost to be divided as follows: Arthur Tonyan 50%; City of McHenry 30%; McHenry Hospital 20%.
