OCTOBER 21, 1957
The City Council met in regular semi-monthly meeting with Mayor Freund
presiding. Aldermen present: Bolger, Brown, Holly, Pitzen, Thennes. Absent: None.
Motion by Thennes, seconded by Pitzen, to approve the minutes of the
last meeting as read. Motion carried.
Mayor Freund appointed Aldermen Thennes, Pitzen and Brown to canvas the
ballots of special election held October 10, 1957.
The committee reported the following results:
For Alderman, Ward 2: RoberNewkirk - 130 votes
For Alderman, Ward 2: Glenn D. Dixon - 30 votes
Motion by Brown, seconded by Thennes, that Robert C. Newkirk, having
received the highest number of votes for the office of Alderman in the second ward
to fill vacancy, be declared elected. Motion carried.
Alderman Newkirk qualified and participated in the meeting.
Motion by Brown, seconded by Holly, to pay the following bills as
certified by W. A. Rakow, City Engineer:
Johnny Humphreys Electric Co.
Traffic Signal Lights:
General Fund $2,901.37 check #12362
MFT Fund - Sec. 6 TL-CS 5,190.78
Total $8,092.15
W. A. Rakow and Associates
Engineering MFT - 6 TL-CS . . $335.22

Motion carried.
Motion by Thennes, seconded by Pitzen, to approve payment of the
following special election bills:
Buss Motor Sales - rent for polling place. . $20.00
Judges and.Clerks: ($15.00 each)
Vera Kane Ella M. Buss
Glorice Jackson Elsie M. Smith
Catherine Thompson Alma Anderson
Motion carried.
Motion by Brown, seconded by Thennes, to pass and approve an ordinance
amending the zoning ordinance of the City of McHenry pertaining petition of Lee
Gladstone for hospital and clinic use. Motion carried.
Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Bolger, to pass and approve resolutions
granting zoning reclassification to Walter E. Carey and Rosemary Carey as per
recommendation of the Zoning Board of Appeals following hearing held October 11,
1957. Motion carried.
Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Brown, to pass and approve resolution
granting zoning variation to Harold F. Lindsay and Mildred D. Lindsay as per
recommendation of the Zoning Board of Appeals following hearing held October 11,
1957. Motion carried.
