APRIL 7TH, 1958
The City Council met in regular semi-monthly meeting with Mayor Freund
presiding. Aldermen present: Bolger, Brown, Holly, Newkirk, Pitzen, Thennes.
Absent: None.
Motion by Brown, seconded by Holly, to approve the minutes of the regular
meeting held March 17th and the special meeting held March 24th. Motion carried.
Motion by Brown, seconded by Pitzen, to open bids pertaining Grove Street
and Wood Street Sewer Construction. Motion carried.
The following bids were received and checked by the City Engineer, W. A.
Rakow, and tabled pending establishment of Escrow Account-by Property Owners:
Lakeland Construction Co. - $18,681.00
Bacon Bros. - $17,642.00
Preston Woodall - $13,288.50
Motion by Brown, seconded by Holly, to return bid check submitted with
proposal on Grove Street sewer project, to Lakeland Construction Company, the
highest bidder. Motion carried.
Motion by Thennes, seconded by Holly, to approve the treasurer's report
as read. Motion carried.
Motion by Brown, seconded by Bolger, to approve the collector's report
as read. Motion carried.
Motion by Holly, seconded by Newkirk, to approve the clerk's report
as read. Motion carried.
Motion by Brown, seconded by Holly, to enter into agreement with the
Chicago and Northwestern Railroad Co. to secure easement to provide roadway
between Main Street and Waukegan Road at easterly edge of property formerly
occupied by Alexander Lumber Co. Voting "No": Bolger. Voting "Yes": Brown,
Holly, Newkirk, Pitzen, Thennes. Motion carried.
Motion by Holly, seconded by Newkirk, to pay the following bills as
approved by the finance committee:

Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Brown, to proclaim the second week in May,
1958 as "Cleanup Week" in the City of McHenry. Motion carried.
Motion by Thennes, seconded by Holly, to deny the petition of Rose Musks
for variation of zoning classification of Lot 31 Edgebrook Heights from "R-1" to
"R-2" as per recommendation of the Zoning Board of Appeals. Motion carried.
Motion by Brown, seconded by Holly, to approve the one year contract
submitted by W. A. Rakow and Associates for engineering services on Motor Fuel
Tax projects. Motion carried.
Motion by Holly, seconded by Thennes, to adjourn. Motion carried.
