HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 06/16/1958 - City Council REGULAR MEETING JUNE 16, 1958 The City Council met in regular semi-monthly meeting with Mayor Freund presiding. Aldermen present: Bolger, Brown, Holly, Pitzen, Thennes. Absent: Newkirk. III/0 Motion by Holly, seconded by Bolger, to approve the minutes of the last regular meeting as read. Motion carried. The question of placing stop signs on Riverside Drive at Broad Street during the months when the beach is in use was referred to the Street and Alley Committee. Motion by Thennes, seconded by Brown, to pay the following amounts due on the Millstream area System of Sanitary Sewers project as approved by the city engineers: Preston Woodall Company Construction - - - $15,904.37 ti #15, W. A. Rakow and Associates - - - Engineering - - - $1,040.00 h #1 Motion carried. (#1'; Motion by Thennes, seconded by Brown, to open bids submitted for extension spc of water main along the east side of Elgin Road (South Green Street). Motion carried. The following bids were received and referred to the City Engineer to be checked: Lakeland Construction Co., McHenry, Illinois $6,359.50 E. & M. Septic Service (Robert H. Ells, Mt. Prospect, Ill.). • #5,466.50 Motion by Brown, seconded by Holly, to purchase testing equipment for use at the Sewage Disposal Plant from Central Scientific Co., the type of equipment having been designated by the State of Illinois Sanitary Water Board and approved by the city engineer. Motion carried. Motion by Brown, seconded by Pitzen, to pay the Lakeland Construction Company ##12' bills in the amount of $9247.00,,and 11931.85covering road improvements. Motion ##12' carried. Motion by Thennes, seconded by Holly, to advertise for bids for resurfacing Green Street from Elm Street south to the Boone Creek Bridge, bids to be received at a special meeting at the City Hall, Monday, June 30, 1958 up to 8 P.M., C.D.S.T. Voting "Yes": Brown, Holly, Thennes Not Voting: Bolger Voting "No": Pitzen Motion carried. Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Holly, to approve the application of Fred F. 110 Wirtz for a Taxi License. Motion carried. Motion by Brown, seconded by Holly, to advertise for bids for construction of water main along a portion of the north side of Baur Avenue, as per City Engineer's specifications, bids to be received until 8 P.M., Monday, June 30, 1958, at a Special Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Hall. Motion carried. June 16, 1958 meeting - Page Two It was agreed that the Board of Local Improvements would constitute a committee requested by a group of businessmen to coordinate plans for off street parking.
