HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 06/30/1958 - City Council SPECIAL MEETING JUNE 30, 1958 A special meeting of the City Council was held in the City Hall, McHenry, Illinois on Monday, June 30, 1958 at 8 P.M. for the purpose of receiving bids on resurfacing a portion of Green Street and for construction of water main along Bauer Avenue, and other business that might come before the council. Mayor Freund presided at the meeting and upon roll call the following 111 aldermen were present: Bolger, Brown, Holly, Newkirk, Pitzen, Thennes. Absent: None. Motion by Thennes, seconded by Brown, to open bids pertaining resurfacing of Green Street. Motion carried. The following bids were received on the Green Street resurfacing project: Peter Baker & Son $7520.00 E. M. Melahn Construction Co. . . . $7426.00 Suburban Oil Company $7132.80 Motion by Holly, seconded by Thennes, to accept the bid submitted by Suburban Oil Company, providing that if job is not completed before July 20, 1958 the work shall not be started until after Labor Day of 1958. Voting "Yes": Brown, Holly, Newkirk, Thennes. Not Voting: Bolger, Pitzen Motion carried. Motion by Brown, seconded by Holly, to authorize the Clerk to return the bid checks of Peter Baker & Son ($760.00) and E. M. Melahn ($750.00). Motion carried. Motion by Newkirk, seconded by Bolger, to open bids submitted pertaining construction of water main along Bauer Avenue. Motion carried. The following bids were received: P. J. Collins Co. 1 $6242.60 Lakeland Construction Co $5598.00 Motion by Thennes, seconded by Brown, to table bids until the regular meeting of the City Council, July 7, 1958, pending deposit of property owners' share, with understanding that the City will pay the engineering costs on the project. Motion carried. Motion by Thennes, seconded by Brown, to authorize the Clerk to return the bid check ($625.00) to P. J. Collins Co. Motion carried. Motion by Thennes, seconded by Holly, to adopt resolution authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to sign State of Illinois Highway Permit in connection with Bauer Avenue water main extension. Motion carried. Motion by Brown, seconded by Thennes, to authorize the Clerk to return bid check to R. H. Ellis (E. & M. Septic Service) which was submitted with bid for 110 proposed water main extension along Elgin Road (S. Green St.).
