HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 10/20/1969 - City Council REGULAR MEETING OCTOBER 20, 1969 CITY HALL In the absence of Mayor Doherty at time to open the meeting, Alderman Bolger, seconded by Alderman Rogers, moved, with unanimous approval (all members being present) that Alderman Pitzen act as Mayor Pro Tem. Aldermen present: Bolger, Hromec, Huck, Jackson, Pitzen, Rogers, Smith, Stanek. Absent: None. Motion by Huck, seconded by Hromec, to approve the minutes of meeting held October 6, 1969, as read. Voting "Aye": Bolger, Hromec, Huck, Jackson, Pitzen, Rogers, Smith, Stanek. Voting "Nay": None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Smith, seconded by Rogers, to authorize M.B. BirchfieZd and Associates to advertise for the sale of $675,000.00 City of McHenry, Illinois Direct Obligation Sewer Bonds, sealed bids to be received on November 3, 1969 at 8 P.M. Voting "Aye": Bolger, Hromec, Huck, Jackson, Pitzen, Rogers, Smith, Stanek. Voting "Nay": None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Mayor Doherty was present and presided at this point in the meeting. Motion by Smith, seconded by Stanek, to authorize the Sewer and Water Committee to enter into agreement with Graham Oil Co. regard- ing connection to the City sanitary sewer system. Motion by Bolger, seconded by Jackson, to authorize the Superintendent of Public Works to install electric heat in the rest- rooms connected with the Band Shell in the City Park. Voting "Aye": Bolger, Hromec, Huck, Jackson, Pitzen, Rogers, Smith, Stanek. Voting "Nay": None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Rogers, seconded by Hromec, to advertise for bids to sell new car for use in the Department of Public Works. Voting "Aye": Bolger, Hromec, Huck, Jackson, Pitzen, Rogers, Smith, Stanek. Voting "Nay": None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Jackson, to grant request of McHenry Lions Club to sponsor a Candy sale in the City on Saturday, October 25, 1969. Voting "Aye": Bolger, Hromec, Huck, Jackson, Pitzen, Rogers, Smith, Stanek. Voting "Nay": None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Rogers, seconded by Pitzen, to open bids on gasoline. Gasoline Bids were received from the following: George Sinclair Service, Deep Rock Car Wash, James A. Thompson, DBA Elm Street Service, Hester Oil Company, Schooley 's Standard, Art's Lakeland Park 66 Service. A proposal was also submitted by Northern Propane Gas Company for conversion to use liquified petroleum gas. Motion by Rogers, seconded by Bolger, to turn gasoline bids over to the Purchasing Committee. Voting "Aye": Bolger, Hromec, Huck, Jackson, Pitzen, Rogers, Smith, Stanek. Voting "Nay": None.
