HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 04/29/1968 - City Council (2) SPECIAL MEETING APRIL 29, 1968 Following adjournment of the Annual Meeting of the McHenry City Council on April 29, 1968, the council, as per notification, convened in a Special Meeting for the purpose of acting on Alcoholic Beverage License applications, appointments, and other business that might come before the council at a special meeting. Mayor Doherty presided at the meeting and, upon roll call, the following Aldermen were present: Bolger, Etten, Hromec, Huck, Jackson, Pitzen, Rogers, Smith, Wegener. Absent: None. Motion by Hromec, seconded by Bolger,to approve the applications of the following (15) for Class "A" Alcoholic Beverage Licenses: Victor S. Adams William Beaton(Town Club) Ernest Freund and Carolyn Justen Reinhold J. Genz Don Heones Richard Jager Saar D. Marsella, Joseph Marsella, and Dominic Marsella d/b/a The Green Pearl Club Ernest Muzzillo Rose Marie Michels Pieroni's, Inc. Catherine Edstrom Elmer Steinsdorfer Frederick G. Meister and Elda M. Meister Arthur H. Henschel and Leona E. Henschel McHenry Country Club Voting "Aye": Bolger, Etten, Hromec, Huck, Jackson, Pitzen, Rogers, Smith, Wegener. Voting "Nay": None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Jackson, seconded by Huck, to approve the application of Nye Drug, Inc. and Oaco Drug, Inc. for Class "C" Alcoholic Beverage License. Voting "Aye": Bolger, Etten, Hromec, Huck, Jackson, Pitzen, Rogers, Smith, Wegener. Voting "Nay": None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Wegener and seconded by Hromec, to approve the applications of William E. Walker, Sr. d/b/a Walker's Corner Store and McHenry Holiday Liquors, Inc. for Class "F" Alcoholic Beverage Licenses. Voting "Aye": : Bolger, Etten, Hromec, Huck, Jackson, Pitzen, Rogers, Smith, Wegener. Voting "Nay": None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Special Meeting - April 29, 1968 #2 Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Etten, to pass and approve an Amendment to the Alcoholic Liquor Dealers ordinance reducing the number of Class "A" licenses to fifteen (15) . Voting "Aye": Bolger, Etten, Hromec, Huck, Jackson, Pitzen, Rogers, Smith, Wegener. Voting "Nay": None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Smith, seconded by Huck, to approve the following appointments as made by Mayor Doherty: City Attorney: John E. Looze Supt. of Public Works: Fred J. Meyer Chief of Police: Harold R. Hobbs Police Lieutenants: Kenneth P. Espey, Richard W. Clark Police Sergeant: Robert H. Kranz Police Force Members: Gregory P. Burg, John P. Davis, Daniel E. Kinnerk, John R. (Advisory) : Huck, Rogers, Bolger Building Comm. : Hromec, Etten, Jackson Special Meeting - April 29, 1968 #3 The following suggested salaries were presented to the council: George Diedrich $530 per month Joseph Diedrich $560 per month Howard DoweZZ $580 per month James Miller $535 per month Ralph Wagner $530 per month James Wiser $560 per month John Smith $505 per month Motion by Bolger, seconded by Huck, to add $10.00 per month to the suggested salaries, and to designate the following salaries: Mayme Buss $110 per month Joseph Williams $140 per month Desk Men-Police Dept. $310 per month City Attorney $800 annual Bd. of Health Chairman $50 annual Bd. of Health Members $25 annual Harold R. Hobbs, Chief of Police $745 per month Richard W. Clark, Police Lieutenant $625. 00 per month Voting "Aye": Bolger, Etten, Hromec, Huck, Jackson, Pitzen, Rogers, Smith, Wegener. Voting "Nay": None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Rogers, seconded by Jackson, to establish the annual salary of Fred J. Meyer, Supt. of Public Works, as $12,500. 0a Voting "Aye": Bolger, Etten, Hromec, Huck, Jackson, Pitzen, Rogers, Smith, Wegener. Voting "Nay": None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Rogers, seconded by Hromec, to approve the re-appointment of John Oakford to the Board of Police Commissioners for a three year term. Voting "Aye": Bolger, Etten, Hromec, Huck, Jackson, Pitzen, Rogers, Smith, Wegener. Voting "Nay": None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Special Meeting - April 29, 1968 #4 Motion by Bolger, seconded by Huck, to grant the use of the City Park on June 8, 1968 to the Catholic Order of Foresters for an outside mass service. Voting "Aye": Bolger, Etten, Hromec, Huck, Jackson, Pitzen, Rogers, Smith, Wegener. Voting "Nay": None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Huck, seconded by Smith, to adjourn.
