HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 08/20/1962 - City Council REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 20, 1962 The City Council met in regular semi-monthly meeting with Mayor Doherty presiding. Aldermen present: Bolger, Conway, Pitzen, Smith. Absent: None. Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Conway, to approve the minutes of the regular meeting held August 13, 1962 and the special meeting held August 13, 1962. Motion carried. Mayor Doherty appointed Aldermen Bolger, Conway, Pitzen and Smith as the Canvassing Committee to canvas the ballots of Special Election �-- held August 17, 1962. The Canvassing Committee reported the following results: For Alderman in Ward No. 1: Joseph A. Etten 95 votes William H. Althoff 1 vote Harold Alm 1 vote For Alderman in Ward No. 3: Lawrence J. Huck, Jr. 87 votes Alvan Baur 7 votes Gertrude Barbian 2 votes Motion by Bolger, seconded by Smith, that Joseph A. Etten, having received the highest number of votes for the office of Alderman in Ward No. 1, be declared elected. Motion carried. Motion by Smith, seconded by Conway, that Lawrence J. Huck, Jr., having received the highest number of votes for the office of Alderman in Ward No. 3, be declared elected. Motion carried. The City Clerk administered the oath of office to the duly elected aldermen and they were seated and participated in the meeting. Motion by Conway, seconded by Pitzen, to authorize the City Clerk to advertise for bids for road construction under MFT numbers 11-CS and 12-CS. Motion carried. Motion by Smith, seconded by Huck, to pay the following from Special Assessment Account No. 60-C-101 (Golf View Ave. District) : W. A. Rakow & Associates - Engineering - 83,678.16 #35 Joseph M. McCarthy - Legal - 81,578.50 #36 Motion carried. Motion by Bolger, seconded by Etten, to approve payment of #38 Interest Coupons due August 15, 1962 under Special Assessment Account thru No. 60-C-101 (Golf View Ave. District). Motion carried. #42 Motion by Conway, seconded by Smith, to pay 8198.77 to the McHenry State Bank Escrow Account Edgebrook Heights as city' s parti- #1044 cipation in surfacing Meadow Lane. Motion carried. Motion by Bolger, seconded by Huck, to pay the following for services as Judges of Election: Martha B. Freund Margaret L. Smith #1033 Beatrice Justen Alida Wirtz thru Mary A. Freund Della Freund #1042 Genevieve Heyward Vera Purvey Elizabeth Gende Margaret Simon Motion carried. Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Bolger, to pass and approve the annual Tax Levy Ordinance for the current fiscal year as read. Motion carried. Motion by Huck, seconded by Smith, to adjourn.
