HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 05/15/1961 - City Council REGULAR MEETING MAY 15, 1961 The City Council met in regular semi-monthly meeting with Mayor Doherty presiding. Aldermen present: Bolger, Conway, Pitzen, Schaefer, Smith. Absent: Brown. Motion by Bolger, seconded by Schaefer, to approve the minutes of the regular meeting held May 1, 1961. Motion carried. Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Smith, to instruct the Clerk to advertise for bids for construction of storm sewer crossing Elm Street (Bauer Avenue), bids to be received until 8 P.M., June 19, 1961. Motion carried. Motion by Bolger, seconded by Conway, to authorize the City Attorney to proceed with Resolution pertaining proposed 12' roadway from Elm Street to Waukegan Road at Third Street. Motion carried. Motion by Smith, seconded by Conway, to call for a vote of opinion to assist the Mayor, as Liquor Commissioner, in making decision as to issuance of Alcoholic Beverage License to West McHenry Recreation, Inc. Upon roll call, the following vote was recorded: Voting "No" -- Bolger Voting "Yes" - Conway, Pitzen, Schaefer, Smith. Motion carried. Mayor Doherty made the following appointments and recommended salaries for city employees: Joseph Diedrich - $490.00 plus $25.00 allowance for use of truck - per month Walter E. W. Aeverman - $440.00 per month James Miller - $400.00 per month Ray West (Operator of Sewerage Disposal Plant) $425.00 per month Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Bolger, to approve the employee appointments and salary recommendations made by the Mayor. Motion carried. Mayor Doherty made the following police department appointments and recommended salaries: Police Chief - Joseph C. Grobel - $490.00 per month Police Sergeant - Richard W. Clark - 425.00 per month Police Officers - John R. Weichmann - 415.00 per month Norbert A. Yegge - 415.00 per month Kenneth Espey - 415.00 per month William G. Pearson - 1415.00 per month John Behrendt - 100.00 per month Richard J. Lemker - 225.00 per month Edward J. Tussey - 100.00 per month Motion by Bolger, seconded by Schaefer, to approve the police �-- department appointments and salary recommendations as made by the mayor. Motion carried. Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Smith, to pay Mayme Buss, City Collector, 2% of Water and Sewer collections, $75.00 per month clerical salary from the Waterworks Fund and $25.00 per month clerical salary from the Sewer Fund; and $10.00 per week for her services in counting parking meter collections. Motion carried. -2- Motion by Schaefer, seconded by Bolger, to pay the City Attorney $800.00 per year, payable quarterly. Motion carried. Motion by Bolger, seconded by Schaefer, to accept authorization of the Board of Local Improvements to issue voucher to Preston Woodall Company in the amount of $16,200.00 under Special Assessment project known as Golf View Avenue and Other Streets Sanitary Sewer, said amount being certified by W. A. Rakow and Associates, engineers. Motion carried. Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Conway, to pay W. A. Rakow and Associates $3,124.53 for engineering services on the Waterworks Improve- ments project. Motion carried. Motion by Conway, seconded by Pitzen, to adjourn.
