JUNE 5, 1961
The City Council met in regular semi-monthly meeting with
Mayor Doherty presiding. Aldermen present: Bolger, Conway, Pitzen,
Schaefer, Smith. Absent: Brown.
Motion by Bolger, seconded by Pitzen, to approve the minutes
`- of regular meeting held May 15, 1961. Motion carried.
Motion by Bolger, seconded by Schaefer, to approve the treasurer's
report as read. Motion carried.
Motion by Conway, seconded by Bolger, to approve the collector' s
report as read. Motion carried.
Motion by Smith, seconded by Bolger, to approve the clerk's report
as read. Motion carried.
Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Bolger, to pay the following bills
as approved by the finance committee:

Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Smith, to appropriate $300.00
to the Police Department for summer uniforms, including one pants, two
shirts, and one cap for each policeman. Motion carried.
Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Bolger,to approve the appoint-
ment of a ZONING COMidSSION to present a new Zoning Ordinance, naming
LeRoy Olson, Royal Bernier, Donald Johnson, Daniel Justen, Floyd Covalt
and George P. Freund. Motion carried.
Mayor Doherty appointed LeRoy Olson chairman of the Zoning
Commission.
Motion by Schaefer, seconded by Conway, to grant the petition
of A. S. Blake Motor Sales, Inc. for a zoning variation from "B" Business
to permit the use of light tool and die manufacturing, as limited in the
recommendation of the Zoning Board of Appeals following hearing held
May 19, 1961.

Voting "Yes": Conway, Pitzen, Schaefer, Smith.
Motion carried.
Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Bolger, to grant the petition
of Harris Trust and Savings Bank of Chicago as Trustee under trust number
30261 and Margaret Freund for a change in Zoning classification from "R-1"
Residential to "B-1" Business as per recommendation of the Zoning Board of
Appeals, following hearing held June 2, 1961. Motion carried.
Following review of proposals for printing new Municipal Code
books, a motion was made by Smith, seconded by Pitzen, to enter into
agreement with the Double "A" Printing Company of McHenry to print 500
copies at a cost of $1950.00. Motion carried.
Motion by Bolger, seconded by Conway, to install a street
light at a location described as "E/S Third Street at South End".
Motion carried.
Motion by Bolger, seconded by Schaefer, to extend a 10 inch
water main Westerly on Maple Avenue to the C & N W Railway tracks under
the Waterworks Improvements Project. Motion carried.
Motion by Bolger, seconded by Smith, to hire Richard H. Burmann
as a City Policeman at a salary of $415.00 per month. Motion carried.
Motion by Conway, seconded by Bolger, to pay the American
National Bank and Trust Company of Chicago the following:
Re: PA-11891 2 3/4% Sewer Improvement Refunding Bonds Ck.
Interest $1650.00, Service Charge $6.00 #5
Re: PA-10050 3 Street Lighting Bonds
Interest $437.50, Service Charge $5.00 Ck. #6
Motion carried.
Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Schaefer, to pay the National Boulevard
Bank of Chicago the following:
Re: PA-747 41, 44 and 4 3/14% Water Improvement Bonds Ck.#2
Interest $18,233.10 , Service Charge $15.00
Motion carried.
Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Bolger, to pay Bacon Bros. and Smith,
Inc. $25,753.79 due on water main extensions contract as per certification Ck.#3
of W. A. Rakow and Associates (Estimate No. 3). Motion carried.

Motion by Bolger, seconded by Schaefer, to pay Looze and
Kinne $3750.00 for legal services in preparing new Municipal Code. Ck. #14832
Motion carried.
Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Conway, to accept authorization
of the Board of Local Improvements to issue voucher to Preston Woodall
Company in the amount of $6,500.00 under Special Assessment project known
as Golf View Avenue and Other Streets Sanitary Sewer, said amount being
`.. certified by W. A. Rakow and Associates, engineers. Motion carried.
Motion by Bolger, seconded by Schaefer, to pay Tongan Construction
Company $31,500.00 under contract for Waterworks Improvements Project as Ck. #1�
per estimate and certification made by W. A. Rakow andAssociates, engineers.
Motion carried.
Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Conway, to grant the Illinois
Missionary Children's Home permission to hold a Tag Day in McHenry on
Saturday, July 1, 1961. Motion carried.
Motion by Smith, seconded by Schaefer, to adjourn. Motion
carried.
