HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 09/18/1961 - City Council REGULAR MEETING SEPTE BER 18, 1961 The City Council met in regular semi-monthly meeting with Mayor Doherty presiding. Aldermen present: Bolger, Conway, Pitzen, Schaefer, Smith. Absent: Brown. Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Conway, to approve the minutes of the last meeting as read. Motion carried. Motion by Conway, seconded by Bolger, to purchase 6 winter jackets for the police department at a cost of $29.50 each, plus tax. Voting "yes": Bolger, Conway, Schaefer, Smith Voting "No": Pitzen Motion carried. Motion by Bolger, seconded by Pitzen, to open bids received on new car for Department of Public Works. Motion carried. The following bids were received: A. S. Blake Motors, Inc. : 1961 Valiant $ 2,331.68 1962 Valiant 2,138.66 Clark Chevrolet Sales: 1961 Chevrolet 2,3114.00 McHenry Co. Import Motors, Inc. : Volkswagen 2,150.00 Buss Motor Sales: 1961 Ford Falcon - 2,158.00 1962 Ford Falcon - 2,376.40 Motion by Schaefer, seconded by Bolger, to purchase 1961 Ford Falcon Station Wagon from Buss Motor Sales, as per proposal, in the amount of $2,158.00. Motion carried. Motion by Conway, to adopt Amendment to Building Code Ordinance setting forth regulations for construction of Fall-Out Shelters and designating a permit fee of $2.00. Motion carried. Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Bolger, to approve the plat of the Proposed Resubdivision of Lots 21 thru 26, Block lh in Lakeland Park Unit 2. Motion carried. Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Conway, to deny the petition of Lon H. J. Smith and Laura Smith for variation of building line, as per recommendation of the Zoning Board of Appeals following hearing held September 8, 1961. Motion carried. Motion by Conway, seconded by Bolger, to grant the petition of Robert E. Stoller and Irene D. Stoller for reclassification of property from "R-1" residential to "R-2" residential as per recommendation of the Zoning Board of Appeals, following hearing held September 8, 1961. Motion carried. Motion by Smith, seconded by Bolger, to pass and approve ordinance providing for Service Occupation Tax. Motion carried. Motion by Bolger, seconded by Schaefer, to pay McCormick & Hendersen A136.00 in payment for printing Special Assessment Bonds. Motion carried. Ck.#21408 Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Bolger, to pay Bacon Bros. & Smith $11,720.25 due on Waterworks Improvement contract, as per engineer' s estimate. Motion carried. A. Rakow and Associates of sanitary sewer facilities to serve Cooney Heights, Meadow Lane with the possibility of a new line to the disposal plant. Motion carried.
