HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 11/20/1961 - City Council REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 20, 1961 The City Council met in regular semi-monthly meeting with Mayor Doherty presiding. Aldermen present: Bolger, Conway, Pitzen, Schaefer, Smith. Absent: Brown. Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Conway, to approve the minutes of the last regular meeting held November 6, as read. Motion carried. Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Bolger, to pay Bacon Bros. & Smith $12,289.36 due on contract for Waterworks Improvements as per Ck. #18 certification by W. A. Rakow and Associates, engineers. Motion carried. Motion by Conway, seconded by Schaefer, to pay Graver Tank and Manufacturing Company $3500.00 due on Waterworks Improvements contract, Ck. #20 upon final approval submitted by W. A. Rakow and Associates, engineers. Motion carried. Motion by Bolger, seconded by Smith, to pay W. A. Rakow and Associates $3861.89 due for engineering services on Waterworks Improvement Ck. #19 project. Motion carried. Motion by Schaefer, seconded by Bolger, to instruct the city police to visit marinas within the city limits of McHenry, with members of the Clean Streams Committee, for the purpose of issuing warning tags regarding sealing of heads on boats, police to be instructed to contact the City Attorney before taking such action. Motion carried. Motion by Conway, seconded by Schaefer, to adopt ordinance fixing interest rate for $40,000.00 Waterworks and Sewerage Revenue Bonds, Series of 1961, of the City of McHenry, interest rate being h per annum. Motion carried. Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Bolger, to approve the payment of $3400.00 interest and service charge of $8.50 on Waterworks and Ck. #2445 Sewer Revenue Bonds to American National Bank and Trust Company of Chicago. Motion carried. Motion by Bolger, seconded by Smith, to issue check in the amount of $500.00 to the McHenry Chamber of Commerce as the city's participation Ck. #276 in the 1961 Christmas decoration program. Motion carried. Motion by Bolger, seconded by Smith, to instruct Fred J. Meyer, Supt. of Public Works, to determine 2-acre area adjacent to the waterworks plant which Edwin V. Knox proposes to sell to the City of McHenry and to submit the information to the City Attorney for the drawing of necessary papers. Motion carried. Motion by Smith, seconded by Pitzen, to adjourn.
