SPECIAL MEETING
The City Council convened in special meeting at 8 P.M. Monday,
March 30, 1959 for the purpose of receiving bids on sanitary sewer project
on North Court Street and storm sewer on Park Avenue, and other business
that might come before the Council.
Mayor Freund presided at the meeting and upon roll call the
following aldermen were present: Bolger, Brown, Holly, Newkirk, Pitzen,
Thennes. Absent: None.
Motion by Thennes, seconded by Pitzen, to open bids on Sanitary
Sewer project on North Court Street. Motion carried.
The following bids were presented:
Preston Woodall Co. $3934.50
Lakeland Construction Co. - - - - $3232.50
Action on the bids was postponed until the next regular meeting
pending establishment of escrow account by the property owners to be served.
Motion by Brown, seconded by Bolger, to return bid check to Preston
Woodall Co. Motion carried.
Motion by Bolger, seconded by Newkirk, to open bids on Park Avenue
storm sewer project. Motion carried.
The following bids were received:
Preston Woodall Co. $17,264.00
Lakeland Construction Co. - - - - $15,323.50
Motion by Bolger, seconded by Holly, to accept the low bid
submitted by Lakeland Construction Company in the amount of $15,323.50.
Motion carried.
Motion by Thennes, seconded by Pitzen, to return bid check on storm
sewer project to Preston Woodall Co. Motion carried.
Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Thennes, to approve the appointment
of Fred Yungnickel as a city policeman until appointments for the coming
fiscal year are effective. Voting "No": Brown and Holly. Voting "Yes":
Bolger, Newkirk, Pitzen, Thennes. Motion carried.
Motion by Thennes, seconded by Brown, to pass and approve a voluntary
amended tax levy instructing the County Clerk to extend a rate which will
not produce more dollars than were received the previous year. Motion carried.
Motion by Brown, seconded by Pitzen, to adjourn. Motion carried.
