HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 09/21/1959 - City Council REGULAR MEETING SEPTEMBER 21, 1959 The City Council met in regular semi—monthly meeting with Mayor Freund presiding. Aldermen present: Bolger, Conway, Holly, Pitzen, Thennes and Brown. Absent: None. Motion by Thennes, seconded by Pitzen, to approve the minutes of the last meeting as read. Motion carried. Motion by Brown, seconded by Holly, to open bids submitted for surfacing a portion of Riverside Drive. Motion carried. The following bids were submitted: Suburban Oil Co. $5,603.68 Burnidge Bros. 6,195.60 Gertz — Melahn 6,037.30 The bids were checked by City Engineers who recommended that the contract be awarded to the lowest bidder. Motion by Brown, seconded by Pitzen, to award contract to Suburban Oil Company in the amount of $5,603.68 for surfacing a part of Riverside Drive. Motion carried. Motion by Thennes, seconded by Conway, to return the bid checks to Burnidge Bros. and Gertz — Melahn. Motion carried. Motion by Brown, seconded by Pitzen, to authorize the City Clerk to advertise for bids on Park Avenue road project as soon as plans are approved by the State of Illinois. Motion carried. Motion by Conway, seconded by Thennes, to approve the City Treasurer's report for the month of August. Motion carried. Motion by Brown, seconded by Conway, to grant the request of the local Kiwanis Clubs to conduct their annual Kiwanis Kids' Day September 25th and 26th, 1959. Motion carried. Motion by Thennes, seconded by Pitzen, to grant the request of The Volunteers of America to conduct a Tag Day in McHenry October 3, 1959. One dissenting vote was cast by Alderman Holly and the Mayor declared the motion carried. Motion by Pitzen, seconded by brown, to adjourn. Motion carried. Ae4,4.11A)?
