MAY 2, 1960
The City Council met in regular semi-monthly meeting
with Mayor Freund presiding. Aldermen present: Bolger, Conway, Holly,
Pitzen and Thennes. Absent: Brown.
Motion by Thennes, seconded by Pitzen, to approve the
minutes of annual meeting and special meeting held April 28, 1960.
Motion carried.
Motion by Conway, seconded by Bolger, to approve the
treasurer' s report as read. Motion carried.
Motion by Thennes, seconded by Holly, to approve the
clerk' s report as read. Motion carried.
Motion by Conway, seconded by Pitzen, to pay the following
bills as approved by the finance committee:

Motion by Thennes, seconded by Holly, to pass and approve resolution
authorizing the City Attorney to negotiate and settle such claim or claims which
have been made by virtue of protested taxes on such basis as my be reasonable
and just up to 100%. Motion carried.
Motion by Bolger, seconded by Thennes, to pay the McHenry Library

Motion by Conway, seconded by Bolger, to direct the Finance
Committee to secure information to determine advisable methods of invest-
ment of funds derived from sale of Waterworks Improvement bonds. Motion
carried.
Motion by Thennes, seconded by Holly, to contact J. W. North & Co.
with instructions to make the annual audit of city books. Motion carried.
Motion by Bolger, seconded by Pitzen, to contact the State
Highway Department and request traffic count to determine need for improved
traffic control at the corner of Main Street and Illinois Route 31. Motion

The clerk was instructed to write to the Chicago Northwestern
Railroad Co. requesting that culvert south of depot be lowered to relieve
flood conditions.
Motion by Conway, seconded by Thennes, to adjourn. Motion carried.
