MAY 16, 1960
The City Council met in regular semi-monthly meeting with Mayor
Freund presiding. Aldermen present: Bolger, Conway, Holly, Pitzen,
Thennes. Absent: Brown.
Motion by Bolger, seconded by Conway, to approve the minutes of
the May 2nd meeting. Motion carried.
Motion by Thennes, seconded by Holly, to pass supplemental resolution
appropriating additional funds in the amount of $2500.00, submit request
for funds under Motor Fuel Tax Section 9-CS (Park Ave. Improvement) and
pay balance due Lakeland Construction Company. Motion carried.
Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Thennes, to pass and approve resolution
authorizing the City Attorney to complete negotiations for purchase of
lots 13 and 14 in Edgebrook Heights Annex at the purchase price of
$5500.00. Motion carried.
Motion by Bolger, seconded by Conway, to advertise for bids for
the construction of a gravel-packed well according to engineer' s
specifications, bids to be received up to 8 P.M. Central Daylight
Time, Monday, June 6, 1960. Motion carried.
Motion by Thennes, seconded by Conway to purchase Lots 48, 47, 46
and North 41 feet of lot 45 in the third addition to Cooney Heights
(the proposed use being for Water Tower and Park Area) at a cost of
$3000.00 and to approve the proposal of Martin Cooney to install four
water hydrants in Cooney Heights at an approximate cost to him of
$1000.00. Motion carried.
Motion by Thennes, seconded by Pitzen, to donate $100.00 to the
Eastern McHenry County Plan Association. Upon roll call, the following P
vote was recorded; Bolger, "No; Conway, "Yes"; Holly, "No"; Pitzen„
"Yes"; Thennes "Yes". Motion carried.
Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Holly, to adopt ordinance "In The
Matter of The Petition Of Gifford Markeson and Loretta Markeson, his
wife, as contract purchasers, and Margaret Freund, a widow, as owner,
for Variation Of The Application Of The Provisions Of The Zoning
Ordinance Of The City of McHenry, Illinois" granting variation of
use of Lot 29 in A. r. Freund' s Millstream Park Addition to the City
of McHenry for automobile parking, lot to be improved with hard, dust-
free surface, a screen planting of evergreen hedge not less than 3'
high, granting driveway access to Freund Avenue. Motion carried.
Motion by Holly, seconded by Conway, to approve the application
of Sam D. Marsella for Class "A" Alcoholic Beverage License. Motion
carried.
Motion by Conway, seconded by Thennes, to pay Otto Mueller the
sum of $50.00, as per easement agreement. Motion carried.

Motion by Thennes, seconded by Holly, to approve the appointments
as made by the Mayor. Motion carried.
Motion by Conway, seconded by Pitzen, to pass and approve ordinance
naming Mayor Freund, Alderman Pitzen and Alderman Brown as the Board of
Local Improvements. Motion carried.
Motion by Thennes, seconded by Pitzen, to grant a salary increase
of $15.00 per month to regular employees. Motion carried.
Mayor Freund appointed Fred J. Meyer as Superintendent of Public
Works.
Motion by Conway, seconded by Thennes, to approve the appointment
of Fred J. Meyer as Superintendent of Public Works. lotion carried.
Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Holly, to designate the salary of
the Superintendertof Public Works as $6500 per year, payable monthly.
Motion carried.
Motion by Thennes, seconded by Holly, to adjourn. Motion carried.
