HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 09/06/1960 - City Council REGULAR MEETING SEPTEMBER 6, 1960 The City Council met in regular semi-monthly meeting with Mayor Freund presiding. Aldermen present: Bolger, Conway, Holly, Pitzen, Thennes. Absent: Brown. Motion by Thennes, seconded by Holly, to approve the minutes of the August 15th meeting as read. Motion carried. Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Holly, to approve the treasurer's report for the month of August as read. Motion carried. Motion by Thennes, seconded by Bolger, to approve the collector's report as read. Motion carried. Motion by Conway, seconded by Pitzen, to approve the clerk's report as read. Motion carried. Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Bolger, to open bids submitted on Main Street road improvement under MFT-10-C.S. Motion carried. The following bids were received: Skokie Valley Asphalt Co., Inc. $6,085.50 Suburban Oil Company 5,538.30 Gertz-Melahn Asphalt Co., Inc. 5,976.05 Bids were checked by W. A. Rakow & Associates, Engineers, with recommendation that the low bid be accepted. Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Bolger to accept the low bid of $5,538.30 submitted by Suburban Oil Company for Main Street improvement. Motion carried. Motion by Conway, seconded by Thennes, to authorize the City Clerk to return the bid checks submitted by the two high bidders under MFT-10-C.S. Motion carried. Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Holly, to open bids for three wheel motorcycle for the police department. Bob Bretiul's Harley-Davidsen, of Harvard, Illinois, submitted alter- nate bids of $1,575.00, $1,391.75 and $1,276.95. Motion by Bolger, seconded by Conway, to accept the bid of $1,391.75 submitted by Bob Breul's Harley-Davidson. Motion carried. Motion by Thennes, seconded by Conway, to direct the City Clerk to submit a letter and plans for correction of drainage on the north side of Illinois Route 31 between Millstream Drive and Front Street with request for assistance. Motion carried. Motion by Pitzen, seconded by Conway, to approve the action of the Board of Local Improvements in awarding contract to Preston Woodall Co. under Special Assessment construction of sanitary sewer in Golf View Ave. and other streets and places and to authorize signing contract. Motion carried. Motion by Thennes, seconded by Pitzen, to compensate Robert L. Weber in the amount of $300.00 for years of service to the city in handling special assessment accounts. Motion carried.
