The regular meeting of the City Council was held on !`londay,
December 17, 1979. The meeting was called to order by Playor Stanek.
At roll call the following aldermen were present: Pepping, Nolan,
Harker, Datz, Wieser, Adams, Schooley, Meurer. Absent: None.
Motion by Datz, seconded by Adams, to accept the minutes
of the December 3, 1979 Regular P1eeting as read with one correction.
Voting aye: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Datz, �iJieser, Adams,
Schooley, Meurer.
Voting nay: None.
Absent: None.

Carmen Hodges and Bob Dooley of the P9cHenry Area Rescue
Squad addressed the Council and explained one of their projects for
1980. Squad members plan to check out business establishments and
keep records as to accessibility for reference when and if they are
called to the scene. It is also their goal to have an employee in
each business place capable of administering CPR (Cardial Pulminary
Resusitation) to sustain a victim until the Rescue Squad arrives at
the scene. Mayor Stanek expressed gratitude to the Rescue Squad
members in behalf of all the citizens of McHenry and surrounding areas
and wished them well in their endeavors for 1980.
County Board Member Edward Buss appeared before the Council
to explain how the Conditional Use permit of the McHenry County 7_oning
Ordinance was passed by county board members requiring a simple
majority vote for passage.
Motion
by Adams, seconded by Harker, to authorize the Playor
to write a letter to county board members expressing the Council's
concern about the provision in the McHenry County Zoning Ordinance
which allows townships and the county to zone by right without prior
zoning hearings.

Schooley, Meurer.

Motion by Harker, seconded by Nolan, to authorize the
Mayor to send a letter to county board members reiterating the
Council's request that more than a simple majority be required to
pass a Conditional Use Permit under the McHenry County Zoning
Ordinance.

Schooley, P1eurer.
Voting nay: None.
Absent: None.
Motion carried.
Motion by Nolan, seconded by Pepping, to pass a Resolution
accepting 272 acres of land donated by Trust No. 1284 and its bene-
ficiaries, Jerome M. Miller, Eugene J. Miller and Charles J. Miller,
to be used for whatever purpose the City Council of McHenry determines.
Voting aye: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Wieser, Adams,
Schooley, Meurer.
Voting nay: None.
Absent: None.
Motion carried.
Motion by Schooley, seconded by Meurer, to pass a Resolution
authorizing the City of McHenry to file a petition with the Illinois
Commerce Commission requesting permission to extend Orleans Street
across the Chicago -Northwestern Railroad tracks and to authorize the
city attorney to proceed with all necessary steps.
Voting aye: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Wieser, Adams,
Schooley, P1eurer.

Motion by Harker, seconded by Wieser, to authorize the city
attorney to take whatever steps are necessary to acquire a license for

installation of a sanitary sewer line through Chicago -Northwestern
Railroad property for the Towne -Orleans subdivision (r9cHenry Lakes
Estates).

City Attorney Narusis reported that the law suit filed
against the Mayor and the City Council of McHenry by George Biggs
on March 20, 1978, had been dismissed by Federal Court Judge Aspen
on December 7, 1979 for want of prosecution.
