Mayor Stanek called to order a Special Meeting of the City Council for the purpose of canvassing results of the alder- manic general election held Tuesday, April 17, 1979 and to author- ize election expenditures. At roll call the following aldermen were present: Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams, Schooley. Bolger arrived at 7:38 P.M. Absent: Rogers. The City Clerk announced that the judges of election in each Ward had duly delivered the ballots, returns and tally sheets in connection with the election of city officials held on the 17th day of April , 1979. The City Clerk opened and read the returns which showed the following votes cast: FIRST WARD: For Alderman: Jack Pepping 178 William Bolger 3 Michael Wieser 2 Ted Pitzen 2 Carey L. Fenner 2 James Carter 1 Total votes cast in Ward 1 - 196 Don Freund 1 Total spoiled ballots - 7 SECOND WARD: For Alderman: George L. Harker 322 Total votes cast in Yard 2 - 560 Michael Teta 236 Total spoiled ballots - 2 THIRD WARD: For Alderman: Raymond L. Smith 212 Michael Wieser 272 Anna Mae Cuda 100 Total votes cast in Ward. 3 - 595 Kenny Diedrich 2 Total spoiled ballots - 9 FOURTH WARD: For Alderman: Len Abruzzo 48 Total votes cast in Ward 4 - 196 Ronald H. Meurer 141 Total spoiled ballots - 7 Motion by Nolan, seconded by Schooley, to pass a Resolu- tion declaring the election results as follows: RESOLUTION The returns of the election held on the 17th day of April , 1979, having been duly made to the City Clerk, and having been can- vassed in open meeting, Wednesday, April 18, 1979 page 2 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Jack Pepping be de- clared to be elected Alderman of the First Ward; that George L. Harker be declared to be elected Alderman of the Second Ward; that Michael J. Wieser be declared to be elected Alderman of the Third Ward; that Ronald H. Meurer be declared to be elected Alderman of the Fourth Ward for four year terms each. Voting aye: Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams, Schooley, Bolger. Voting nay: None. Absent: Rogers. Motion carried. Motion by Datz, seconded by Nolan, to authorize and ap- prove payment of $35.00 as rental fees for election polling places to Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 404 N. Green Street; Whispering Oaks Community Center, 4513 Front Royal Drive and Lake- land Park Community House, 1717 N. Sunset Avenue; and $35.00 to the following election judges: WARD 1 Polling Place - Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church Marian B. Voting nay: None. Absent: Rogers. Motion carried. Motion by Adams, seconded by Smith, to pay stand-by election judges $10.00 for attending the election school as follows: Ann Byers, 112 N. Green Street; Mathilda Notch, 1015 Hanley Street; Phyllis Afeld, 4215 W. South Street; and Alice Sullivan, 1917 N. North Avenue. Voting aye: Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Schooley, Adams, Bolger. Voting nay: None. Absent: Rogers. Motion carried. Motion by Smith, seconded by Adams, to adjourn. Voting aye: Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Schooley, Adams, Bolger. Voting nay: None. Absent: Rogers. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 7:40 P.M. ;2('-'291 .°‘ clerk mayor PUBLIC HEARING AND SPECIAL MEETING WEDNESDAY, APRIL 18, 1979 8 P.M. Mayor Stanek called to order the Public Hearing and Spe- cial Meeting to consider the annexation agreement proposed by Bernard and Catherine Bauer and Boone Valley Development Company at 8 P.M. concerning 39 acres south of the city adjacent to Coun- try Club Estates subdivision Wednesday, April 18, 1979. At roll call the following aldermen were present: 3olger, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams, Schooley. Rogers arrived at 8:13 P.M. and Nolan arrived at 9:12 P.M. Absent: None. Also in attendance were City Attorney Bernard Narusis; Sup't of Public Works Fred Meyer; City Clerk Gilpin; David Ladd and Robert Robinson of Boone Valley Development; Engineer Steve Larson of Baxter & Woodman; James Bishop, attorney for the de- velopers; and spectators Jack Pepping, Michael Wieser, Eugene LaFontaine and Bill Grunell . Discussion was held on the proposed annexation agree- ment. At 9:24 P.M. , Mayor Stanek called for a recess to allow the Court Reporter to rest. Meeting was reconvened at 9:29 P.M. At roll call the following aldermen were present: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams, Schooley, Rogers. Absent: None. Discussion continued on the propossed agreement. Motion by Harker, seconded by Datz, to concur with the conceptual agreement as presented and revised tonight and to in- vite the developers to put their annexation agreement into final form for further consideration by the Council . Voting aye: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams, Schooley, Rogers. Voting nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Adams, seconded by Datz, to recess this Public Hearing until Wednesday, May 2, 1979 at 8 P.M. Wednesday, April 18, 1979 page 2 Voting aye: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams, Schooley, Rogers. Voting nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.
