The following aldermen were present: Bolger, Nolan, Smith, Harker, Datz, Adams, Schooley, Rogers. Absent: None. II/ Motion by Smith, seconded by Rogers, to appoint Alder- man Bolger as Temporary Chairman of the meeting in the absence of Mayor Stanek. Voting aye: Nolan, Smith, Harker, Datz, Adams, Rogers, Schooley. Voting nay: None. Passed: Bolger. Absent: None. Motion carried. Chairman Bolger called the meeting to order. Following the Pledge of Allegiance, Alderman Nolan of- fered a prayer. Motion by Harker, seconded by Adams, to approve the minutes of the December 4, 1978 meeting as read with two correc- tions. Voting aye: Nolan, Smith, Harker, Datz, Adams, Rogers, Schooley, Bolger. Voting nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Richard Doherty, chairman of the McHenry Profile Book Committee of the Chamber of Commerce, presented the first Profile Book off the presses to the City of McHenry. The 37-page book has been the goal of the Chamber for several years. Chairman Bolger accepted the book on behalf of the Council. Motion by Datz, seconded by Adams, to give Christmas checks to full time employees for $25.00 and $10.00 to part time employees. Voting aye: Nolan, Smith, Harker, Datz, Adams, Schooley, Bolger. Motion by Harker, seconded by Datz, to authorize pur- chase of a hydraulic Sweepster Brush attachment for the Public Works department from George P. Freund, Inc. at a price of $1200.00. Voting aye: Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams, Rogers, Schooley, Bolger. Voting nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Clerk Gilpin reported that she had advertised for gaso- line bids for use by city vehicles during the 1979 calendar year and had received no bids. Discussion was held on the possiblity of putting underground tanks at the city garage and purchasing gasoline in bulk. The matter was turned over to the Purchasing Committee for further action. Mayor Stanek arrived at the meeting at 8:38 P.M. and conducted the remainder of the meeting. The matter of setting the Council meeting dates for the 1979 calendar year was presented 1337 the Clerk. Motion by Rogers, seconded by Nolan, to reschedule the date of the last meeting in December 1979 from December 31 to De- cember 27. Voting aye: Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams, Rogers, Schooley, Bolger. Voting nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Rogers, seconded by Nolan, to reschedule the February 19, 1979 council meeting to February 20, 1979, because of the celebration of Washington's birthday on the 19th. Motion by Schooley, seconded by Smith, to adopt a Re- "' solution setting forth the City Council meeting days for the 1979 calendar year as presented. Voting aye: Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams, Rogers, Schooley, Bolger. Voting nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Discussion was held on the Plan Commission's letter re- garding its recommendations on the Residential Development Group's annexation proposal on the Backhaus Farm. James Berg, Vice Presi- dent of RDG also presented a letter dated December 18, 1978, which detailed proposals regarding the Pre-annexation agreement. No ac- tion was taken following the 2-hour discussion. Motion by Harker, seconded by Nolan, to approve the Mayor's appointment of Bryce Klontz to the Zoning Board of Appeals to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Donald L. Williams. Voting aye: Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams, Rogers, Schooley, Bolger. Voting nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Smith, seconded by Adams, to accept the Clerk's report as presented.
