MONDAY, DECEMBER 4, 1978 8 P.M.
The Regular Meeting of the City Council was called to
order by Mayor Stanek on Monday, December 4, 1978. At roll call
the following alderman were present: Datz, Smith, Adams, Rogers,
Schooley, Bolger, Nolan, Harker. Absent: None.
Motion by Datz, seconded by Adams, to accept the minutes
of the November 20, 1978 meeting as read.
Voting aye: Datz, Smith, Adams, Rogers, Schooley, Bolger,
Nolan, Harker.
Voting nay: None.
Absent: None.
Motion carried.
Discussion was held on a proposed Community Center Com-
plex in Petersen Park. It was decided to call for a Committee
Meeting of the Whole Council to discuss in detail what should be
included in the Complex.
Dave Ladd and Rob Robinson of Brittany Builders, and their
attorney, Jim Bishop, appeared before the Council to get a concensus
of opinion regarding their proposal to annex 40 acres of land known
as the Bernard Bauer farm adjacent to Country Club Estates subdivi-
sion.
Motion by Harker, seconded by Smith, to accept in concept
the preliminary discussion regarding possible annexation of 40 acres
south
of land ffia444- of the city and to allow Brittany Builders to file a
petition to annex and an Annexation Agreement at a later date.

Bolger, Nolan, Harker.

Sup't Meyer explained that price estimates had been ob-
tained from two companies regarding rerouting of Industrial Drive
sewerage from the Millstream lift station to the Ramble Road It
sewer
station. Lakeland Construction of McHenry Submitted an estimate
of $33,974.00 and Scully, Hunter, & Scully of Mt. Prospect sub-
mitted an estimate of $36,051.00.
Motion by Harker, seconded by Rogers, to reroute Indus-
trial Drive sewerage from the Millstream lift station through the
sewer
Ramble Road lift station at the earliest possihle time and to award
the contract for construction of this project to the Lakeland Con-
struction Co. in the amount of $33,974.00.

Nolan, Harker.

Sup't Meyer reported on the bid opening held November 29,
1978 at 2:30 P.M. at the City Clerk's office for repainting of the
elevated water tank and installation of a safety rail. The follow-
ing bids were received: Craftsmen Painting Service $30,500.00 - 30
days to complete; Jetco, Ltd $31,666.00 - 60 days to complete; Na-
tional Tank Maintenance Corp. $33,385.00 - 30 days to complete;
Neumann Co. Contractors $33,850.00 - 90 days to complete; Security
Tank £ Tower $42,100.00 - days to complete as required; Watertower
Paint $ Repair $73,953.00 - 45 days to complete.
Motion by Harker, seconded by Adams, to award the bid
for painting of the water tower and installation of a safety rail
to the low bidder, Craftsmen Painting Services of Midlothian, Ill
at a cost of $30,500.00 with a completion date of 30 days.

which had been paid from the General Fund throughout the 1978-79
fiscal year.

Motion by Harker, seconded by Datz, to reject claim for a
new tire submitted by Gary Ackerman of Roscoe, Ill who alleged his
tire was damaged when he ran over a piece of broken bottle in the
alley next to St. Regis tavern.

Bolger, Nolan, Harker.

Motion by Smith, seconded by Schooley, to recap four Big
Wheels tires at a cost of $2,554.90 and to purchase four new tires
at a cost of $4,525.34 for the Big Wheels sludge truck from Brad
Regan, Inc. of McHenry.
Voting aye: Datz, Smith, Adams, Schooley, Bolger,
Nolan, Harker.

Motion by Datz, seconded by Harker, to purchase boiler
insurance from A.J. Gallagher Co. for one year with $1,000.00 de-
ductible at an annual premium of $3,203.00.

Mayor Stanek read a letter of resignation from Donald L.
Williams from the Zoning Board of Appeals who was moving out of
state.
Motion by Harker, seconded by Datz, to pass a resolution
commending Donald L. Williams for his service as a member of the
Zoning Board of Appeals.

Motion by Adams, seconded by Rogers, to pass a reso-
lution requesting our state legislators to introduce and sup-
port legislation that would fund dredging of Boone Creek within
the City of McHenry.

Bolger, Nolan, Harker.
Voting nay: None.
Absent: None.
Motion carried.
Motion by Nolan, seconded by Datz, to authorize the
Mayor to send a letter to the County Zoning Board of Appeals
urging them to set an early date for hearing of the Cable Tele-
vision zoning reclassification request.
Voting aye: Datz, Adams, Rogers, Schooley, Bolger,
Nolan, Harker.
Voting nay: Smith.
Absent: None.
