MONDAY, OCTOBER 23, 1978 7:30 P.M.
Mayor Stanek reconvened the third session of the Joint Conference
and Public Hearing regarding the annexation proposal of Residential Develop-
ment Group for the Backhaus Farm on October 23, 1978 at 7:30 P.M. At roll

call, the following aldermen were present: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz,
Schooley. Rogers arrived at 7: 52 P.M. Absent: Adams, Smith.
Plan Commission members present: Meurer, Cole. Absent: Pepping,
Thomas, Davis, Wedekind, Eckstein, Toole, Bunting, Schwegel. Zoning Board
member present: Fouse. Absent: Wilkins, Kauss, Blake, Williams, Cuda.
Present from RDG were Attorney Richard Heimberg, President Don
Gersted, Vice President James Berg and Land Planner Willis Martin. Also
in attendance were City Attorney Bernard Narusis, Supt. Fred Meyer and
Clerk Gilpin. Approximately 50 people were in the audience.
Attorney Heimberg presented opening remarks and then Berg described
a revised plan which he presented to the Council and audience. The proposed
revision contained 1278 units instead of 1638 with a reduction in proposed
population from 4765 to 3898.
Discussion was held between representatives of RDG and the Council.
Jeffrey Ladd, attorney for the objectors, made several comments and asked
that he be given one to two weeks notice of any future meetings regarding
the RDG-Backhaus annexation proposal. Comments were also made by Mrs. James
Erickson, Mrs. Alice Howenstine, Vernon Schiller, Ray Jensen and Gerald
Schiller.
Motion by Harker, seconded by Nolan, to recess this Joint Conference
and Public Hearing to a date to be determined later.
Voting Aye: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Schooley, Rogers.
Voting Nay: None.
Absent: Adams, Smith.
Motion carried.
Meeting recessed at 9:18 P.M.
