Mayor Stanek called to order the Joint Conference and Public Hearing on the Residential Development Group's annexation proposal for the Backhaus Farm property. On roll call the fol- lowing aldermen were present: Bolger, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams, Schooley, Rogers . Absent: Nolan. Motion by Harker, seconded by Adams, to recess the meet- ing to East Campus cafeteria to accommodate the large number of spectators who wish to attend. Voting Aye: Bolger, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams , Rogers , Schooley. Voting Nay: None. Absent: Nolan. Motion carried. Mayor Stanek reconvened the Public Hearing and Joint Conference at McHenry East Campus cafeteria at 7:50 P.M. At roll call the following city board members were present: Aldermen- Bolger, Nolan , Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams , Schooley, Rogers. Absent: None. Plan Commission Members - Pepping, Comerio, Meurer, Toole. Absent: Thomas , Martin, Wedekind, Eckstein , Bunting , Schwegel , Cole. Zoning Board of Appeals Members - Wilkins , Kauss , Fouse, Williams , Cuda. Absent: Claypool , Blake. Also in attendance: Steve Arvadas and Charles Kell of the McHenry County Planning Commission; Attorney Richard Babcock representing Shamrock Cattle Farm as objector; Steve Larson, a representative of City Engineers Baxter & Woodman; and Donald Gersted , president; James Berg, vice president and Willis Martin, land planner, all of Residential Development Group. Approximately 300 people were in the audience. Mr. Berg presented RDG's proposal in detail to the au- dience, followed by a presentation by Attorney Babcock. Attorney Babcock turned over petitions to the City Clerk which he stated were signed by 42% of adjoining landowners and by 615 concerned residents of McHenry County. Friday, July 14, 1978 Page 2 Others who registered to speak made comments were: Mrs . Alice Howenstine of 4614 N. Pioneer Road representing the McHenry County Defenders ; Mrs . B. Alderson of 2008 N. Ridge Road; Fred A. Leffer of 4621 W.' Front Royal Drive and James A. Dickens of 804 Melrose Court. Motion by Harker, seconded by Datz, to recess the Public Hearing and Joint Conference to a date to be determined later. Voting Aye: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams , Schooley, Rogers.
