HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 05/31/1978 - City Council REGULAR MEETING WEDNESDAY, MAY 31, 1978 8 P.M. The regular meeting of the City Council was held on Wednesday, May 31, 1978. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Stanek. At roll call the following aldermen were present: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, III Adams, Schooley. Absent: Rogers. The regular meeting was held on Wed- nesday, May 31 instead of Monday, May 29 because of the Memorial Day Holiday. Motion by Schooley, seconded by Nolan, to accept the minutes of the Regular Meeting May 15, 1978 and of the Special Meeting and Joint Conference May 24, 1978 as read with corrections. Voting Aye: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams, Schooley. Voting Nay: None. Absent: Rogers. Motion carried. Motion by Harker, seconded by Smith, to continue the Special Meeting and Joint Conference on Residential Development Group, regarding III the Backhaus Farm, to Friday, July 14, 1978 at 7:30 P.M. Voting Aye: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams, Schooley. Voting Nay: None. IAbsent: Rogers. Motion carried. I I Motion by Harker, seconded by Nolan, to instruct Baxter & Woodman 1 to initiate flow meter readings in the low end side of the 10-inch, 12-inch and 15-inch sanitary sewers currently existing in the Boone Valley PUD { so that the engineering design of sanitary sewers for the proposed Backhaus Annexation can be completed. Voting Aye: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams, Schooley. Voting Nay: None. Absent: Rogers. Motion carried. Motion by Bolger, seconded by Datz, to authorize June 24, 1978 as Tag Day for the McHenry Junior Youth Baseball League and September 29, 1978 as Tag Day for Kiwanis Peanut Day. Voting Aye: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams, Schooley. Voting Nay: None. ii Absent: Rogers. Motion carried. Wednesday, May 31, 1978 Page 2 Motion by Oatz, seconded by Nolan, to pay $387.00 to Northeastern Illinois Planning Commission as the City of McHenry's annual contribution. Voting Aye: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams, Schooley. Voting Nay: None. Absent: Rogers. Motion carried. Motion by Harker, seconded by Schooley, to pass an ordinance incorporating the total cost of storm sewers into the Washington Street S.O.S. project. Voting Aye: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams, Schooley. Voting Nay: None. Absent: Rogers. Motion carried. Motion by Bolger, seconded by Harker, to put the city's share of the cost of the Washington Street S.O.S. project into an escrow con- struction account, funds to be taken from the Motor Tax Fuel fund. Voting Aye: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams, Schooley. Voting Nay: None. Absent: Rogers. Motion carried. Alderman Rogers arrived at 8:51 P.M. Motion by Adams, seconded by Harker, to pass a Resolution commending Earl R. Walsh upon his retirement from the McHenry Public Library Board. Voting Aye: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams, Schooley, Rogers. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Nolan, seconded by Datz, to pass a Resolution commending William J. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Smith, seconded by Nolan, to pass a Resolution commending Lillian Anglese upon her retirement from the McHenry Public Library Board. Voting Aye: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams, Schooley, Rogers. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Smith, seconded by Adams, to pass an ordinance granting a non-exclusive franchise to Community Cablevision, Inc. its successors and assigns, to own, operate and maintain a community television system in the city of McHenry; setting forth conditions accompanying the grant or franchise; and providing for regulations and use of the said system by said city. Voting Aye: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams, Schooley, Rogers. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Schooley, seconded by Adams, to pass a Resolution closing State Route 120 during the Fiesta Day parade on Sunday, July 30, 1978. Voting Aye: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams, Schooley, Rogers. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Smith seconded by Nolan, to pay $40 to William McDonald for his tire which was damaged by a torn down city speed limit sign.
