MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 1978 8 P.M.
The regular meeting of the City Council was held on Monday,
February 6, 1978. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Stanek.
At roll call the following aldermen were present: Adams, Schooley,
Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith.
Motion by Datz, seconded by Bolger, to accept the minutes
of the January 30, 1978 minutes as read.
Voting Aye: Schooley, Adams, Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith.
Voting Nay: None.
Absent: None.
Motion carried.
Mayor Stanek announced his appointment of Jerome D. Rogers to
fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Fourth Ward Alderman
Walther Schaedel.
Motion by Schooley, seconded by Nolan, to accept the Mayor's
appointment of Rogers.
Voting Aye: Schooley, Bolger, Nolan, Smith.
Voting Nay: Adams, Harker, Datz.
Absent: None.
Motion carried.
Mayor Stanek announced his appointment of Robert Blake to the
Zoning Board of Appeals to fill the vacancy created by the resignation
of Zoning Board Member Edward Parks.
Motion by Nolan, seconded by Adams, to accept the Mayor's
appointment of Blake.
Voting Aye: Adams, Schooley, Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz,
Smith, Rogers.
Voting Nay: None.
Absent: None.

Motion by Harker, seconded by Datz, to enter into a lease
agreement for one year with the VFW for use of ball fields on its property
for the 1978 season at a cost of $1,500.00.
Voting Aye: Adams, Schooley, Boger, Nolan, Harker, Datz,
Smith, Rogers.
Voting Nay: None.
Absent: None.
Motion carried.
Motion by Smith, seconded by Harker, to pass a resolution
objecting to a request by Shamrock Farms on Draper road for airport
zoning and to authorize Supt. Fred Meyer to attend the zoning hearing.
Voting Aye: Schooley, Rogers, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith.
Voting Nay: Bolger.
Pass: Adams.
Absent: None.
Motion carried.
Motion by Schooley, seconded by Adams, to purchase 4.67 acres
of beach front property on the eastern shore of McCullom Lake from Mr.
Herman Mass at a price of $47,500.00.
Voting Aye: Adams, Schooley, Rogers, Bolger, Nolan.
Voting Nay: Harker, Datz, Smith.
Absent: None.
Motion carried.
Motion by Smith, seconded by Harker, to authorize the Mayor
and Clerk to sign an agreement with Baxter & Woodman providing for an
engineering study of sewerage facilities needed to serve the future growth
of the city of McHenry.
Voting Aye: Adams, Schooley, Rogers, Bolger, Nolan, Harker,
Datz, Smith.
Voting Nay: None.
Absent: None.
Motion carried.

Motion by Schooley, seconded by Adams, to amend the Municipal
Code Book by revising the date of books used for the Electrical Code,
Plumbing Code, and the Basic Building Code.
Voting Aye: Adams, Schooley, Rogers, Bolger, Nolan, Harker,
Datz, Smith.
Voting Nay: None.
Absent: None.
Motion carried.
City Attorney Narusis announced that the Concerned Citizens had
filed a Notice of Appeal on January 30, 1978, in connection with their
lawsuit against Joan & Edward Buss and the City of McHenry. Narusis
�-- felt it could be from 18 months to 2 years before a decision would be
handed down from the Appelate Court. He will keep the Council informed
as it progresses.
Motion by Harker, seconded by Schooley to pass a resolution
recognizing the services of former Fourth Ward Alderman Walther Schaedel.
Voting Aye: Adams, Schooley, Rogers, Bolger, Nolan, Harker,
Datz, Smith.
Voting Nay: None.
Absent: None.
Motion carried.
