HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 10/31/1977 - City Council REGULAR MEETING MONDAY, OCTOBER 31, 1977 8:00 P.M. The City Council met in regular meeting with Mayor Stanek pre- siding. At roll call the following aldermen were present: Bolger, Harker, Datz, Smith, Schooley, Schaedel. Absent: Nolan, Adams. Motion by Harker, seconded by Bolger, to accept the minutes of the October 17, 1977. meeting as read. Voting Aye: Bolger, Harker, Datz, Smith, Schooley, Schaedel. Voting Nay: None. Absent: Nolan, Adams. Motion carried. Motion by Schooley, seconded by Datz, to accept the minutes of the Special Meeting, October 27, 1977. as read. Voting Aye: Bolger, Harker, Datz, Smith, Schooley, Schaedel. Voting Nay: None. Absent: Nolan, Adams. Motion carried. Loren Woodman and Mrs. Murel Johnson of the Crystal Lake United Way campaign addressed the Council and presented the advantages of in- itiating such a campaign in the city or County. Motion by Harker, seconded by Schooley to pass a resolution indicating the Council's support on a United Way project either in the county or in the city of McHenry. Voting Aye: Bolger, Harker, Datz, Smith, Schooley, Schaedel. Voting Nay: None. Absent: Nolan, Adams. Motion carried. Motion by Schooley, seconded by Datz, to authorize the appoint- ment of two representatives from McHenry on the initial steering committee. Voting Aye: Bolger, Harker, Datz, Smith, Schooley, Schaedel. Voting Nay: None. Absent: Nolan, Adams. Motion carried. Monday, October 31, 1977 Page 2 Supt. Meyer reported on the bid opening for a pickup truck for the sewer department. Three bids were received: Sunnyside Dodge - $4700; Peyton Chevrolet - $4510 and Buss Ford - $4412. Motion by Harker, seconded by Datz, to accept the low bid of Buss Ford Sales for $4412 and purchase the truck. Voting Aye: Bolger, Harker, Datz, Smith, Schooley, Schaedel. Voting Nay: None. Absent: Nolan, Adams. Motion carried. Motion by Schaedel, seconded by Schooley, to instruct Supt. Meyer not to issue a permit to Jerome Matelis for installation of a Foto Hut in the McHenry Marker Place parking lot. Voting Aye: Bolger, Datz, Smith, Schooley, Schaedel. Voting Nay: Harker. Absent: Nolan, Adams. —� Motion carried. The Public Property committee was instructed to look into the purchase of a street stripping machine, a sand blaster and a tarring machine for the public works department. Motion by Smith, seconded by Datz, to authorize the clerk to purchase storage boxes and steel shelving for the vault. Voting Aye: Bolger, Harker, Datz, Smith, Schooley, Schaedel. Voting Nay: None. Absent: Nolan, Adams. Motion carried. Motion by Schooley, seconded by Schaedel, to pass a resolution requesting that the city be put on the mailing list of the State of Illinois, Department of Procurement. Voting Aye: Bolger, Harker, Datz, Smith, Schooley, Schaedel. Voting Nay: None. Absent: Nolan, Adams. Motion carried. Monday, October 31, 1977 Page 3 Motion by Datz, seconded by Harker, to secure an addition $125,000 of insurance on the contents of city hall from Stoffel & Reihansperger for the sum of $22 which will be renewable Dec. 11, 1977. Voting Aye: Bolger, Harker, Datz, Smith, Schooley, Schaedel. Voting Nay: None. .__. Absent: Nolan, Adams. Motion carried. Motion by Smith, seconded by Schooley to adjourn.
