THURSDAY, OCTOBER 27, 1977 7:30 P.M.
The City Council met in special meeting with Mayor Stanek pre-
siding. At roll call the following aldermen were present: Bolger, Nolan,
Harker, Datz, Smith, Schaedel, Schooley. Absent: Adams.
�-- Robert Everly and Robert Greenlees of McFadzean & Everly, Ltd.
of Mount Prospect, IL, Recreation Planners, gave the Council information
on a proposed multi purpose community center building.
Tom Engels of Lester, Witte, Inc. , auditors, reported on the
financial status of the General and Water/Sewer funds.
Discussion on a proposed reservoir on Sherman Hill took place
between Dr. Hal Sundin of Baxter & Woodman, city engineers; Alan Miller
of McHenry Sand & Gravel, property owner, and the City Council. The
Utilities Committee was instructed to study the matter further and report
back to the Council within 6 weeks.
Motion by Nolan, seconded by Harker, to allocate Entitlement
Period #9 Revenue Sharing Funds in the amount of $125,195.00 to the
following categories:
Community Center $28,695.00
General Administration $ 500.00
Library $ 5,000.00
McHenry County Historical Society 1,000.00
McHenry Rescue Squad 5,000.00
McHenry County Senior Citizens Council 2,000.00
Mosquito Abatement 13,000.00
Public Works Maintenance Building Addition 40,000.00
Tennis Courts 20,000.00
Traffic Relief 10,000.00
Voting Aye: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Schaedel, Schooley.
Voting Nay: None.
Absent: Adams.
Motion carried.

Bolger presented proposed changes to improve traffic conditions
at the intersection of Waukegan and Front streets. The Street and Side-
walk Committee was authorized to study the matter with Supt. Meyer and
the State Highway Department and report back to the Council.
Motion by Smith, seconded by Datz, to purchase one new squad
car to replace a squad which was totaled in an accident. Purchase price
is $5,262.58, reimbursement from insurance company was $4,474.00, balance
due $788.58.
Voting Aye: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Schaedel,
Schooley.
Voting Nay: None.
Absent: Adams.
Motion carried.
Motion by Datz, seconded by Schooley, to include the following
police equipment which is carried in the squad cars on the city insurance
roll: Bar lights, Portable Radios, Console radios and shotguns.
Voting Aye: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Schaedel,
Schooley.
Voting Nay: None.
Absent: Adams.
Motion carried.
Motion by Schooley, seconded by Harker, to purchase Bar
Lights for the new squad car.
Voting Aye: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Schaedel,
Schooley.
Voting Nay: None.
Absent: Adams.
Motion carried.
Public Property Committee was requested to investigate possibil-
ity of enclosing the generator outside of city hall. The Committee was
also authorized to contact Wally Frett of Jos. Frett & Son Contractors,
about design of the proposed Public Works building addition.

Motion by Smith, seconded by Nolan, to obtain passenger in-
surance for the Supt. of Public Works city automobile.
Voting Aye: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Schaedel,
Schooley.
Voting Nay: None.
Absent: Adams.
Motion carried.
Motion by Smith, seconded by Schooley, to adjourn.
