The regular meeting was held on Tuesday, due to the Labor Day Holiday falling on the first Monday of the month. Roll call found the following aldermen were present: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams, Schaedel, Schooley. Absent: None. Motion by Harker, seconded by Adams to accept the minutes of the August 29, 1977 meeting as read. Voting Aye: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams, Schaedel, Schooley. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Voting Nay: Nolan Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Nolan, to pay Mayor Stanek's mileage bill as presented: After discussion with the Mayor Pro Tem, Nolan withdrew her motion. Motion by Smith, seconded by Schaedel, to accept the Chamber of Commerce's contribution of $265.88 toward the bill for Fiesta Day police protection (auxiliary police and regular city police overtime) with the balance of the bill to be paid by the city in the amount of $1,179.78. �. Voting Aye: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams, Schaedel, Schooley. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. The Mayor Pro Tem authorized the Public Property committee to look into the Chamber of Commerce's offer to donate all their Christmas Decorations to the city. Motion by Harker, seconded by Adams, to approve the final plat of Brittany Park Unit 2 contingent upon the engineer's approval of the amount specified in their irrevocable letter of credit and the signa- tures of the mayor and city clerk should be affixed to the plat. Voting Aye: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams, Schooley. Voting Nay: Schaedel. Absent: None. Motion carried. Tuesday, Sept. 6, 1977 Page 4 Motion by Smith, seconded by Harker, to authorize the pur- chase of a snow plow in the amount of $1,413 for the Public Works department. ..� Voting Aye: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams, Schaedel, Schooley. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Harker, seconded by Nolan, to authorize Supt. Meyer to purchase a sand spreader for the Public Works department which he and his employees feel is adequate. Voting Aye: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams, Schaedel, Schooley. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Adams, seconded by Smith, to authorize Supt. Meyer to contact State Highway officials and get approval to seal coat the west side of Route 31 from Grand to Maple avenue. After discussion, Adams withdrew his motion and Smith withdrew his second. Motion by Adams, seconded by Smith, to authorize Supt. Meyer to contact the State Highway department seeking permission for the city to seal coat the side of the highway between Grand Avenue and the Cemetery on the west side of Route 31. Voting Aye: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams, Schaedel, Schooley. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Harker, seconded by Schooley, to pass a resolution withdrawing unexpended funds in the Cooney Heights Special Assessment Account in the amount of $2,545.95 and transferring it into the Water/ Sewer Fund. Motion by Smith, seconded by Adams, to pay the insurance premium for the professional police liability policy in the amount of $6,340.00 to Kent Corporation. Voting Aye: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams, Schaedel, Schooley. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Smith, seconded by Harker, to pay Baxter & Woodman for engineering services in the amount of $5,693.50 as follows: McDonald Industrial Development - $100.00; Clearbrook Avenue - $349.25 and Well No. 5 Filtration Facilities - $5,244.25. Voting Aye: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams, Schaedel, Schooley. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Schaedel, seconded by Adams, to allocate $2,442.00 from the Anti Recession Fund for Summer Help wages. Voting Aye: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams, Schaedel, Schooley. Mayor Pro Tem Bolger called for a Special Meeting of the Council on Monday, September 12, 1977 at 8 P.M. for the purpose of considering a Police Pension Levy Ordinance, approving bid advertisement for Well No. 6 and any and all other business which might properly come before the Council. Tuesday, Sept. 6, 1977 Page 6 Motion by Smith, requesting that a representative from Baxter & Woodman be asked to attend the Sept. 12 Special Meeting and explain in detail the proposed well specifications and also ask Tom ---. Huemann to attend. After discussion, Smith withdrew his motion. Motion by Smith, seconded by Adams, to request Baxter & Woodman to have a representative attend the September 12th Special Meeting prepared to present all the information he has on the proposed wells. Voting Aye: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams, Schaedel, Schooley. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Harker, seconded by Schooley, to pass an amended Stop Sign Ordinance incorporating stop signs in Fox Ridge Subdivision and on Commercial Avenue in Lakeland Park. Voting Aye: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams, Schaedel, Schooley. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Acting on a letter written to the Council by Mr. Al Smith, owner of Lakeland Quick Wash, 4400 W. Route 120, McHenry Market Place, in which he requested credit on his water bill, Harker made a motion, seconded by Schaedel, to deny the issuance of any further credit to Lakeland Quick Wash. Voting Aye: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams, Schaedel, Schooley. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.
