MONDAY, MAY 16, 1977 8 P.M.
The City Council met in regular meeting with Mayor Stanek presiding.
At roll call the following aldermen were present: Bolger, Nolan, Harker,
Datz, Adams, Schaedel, Schooley. Smith arrived at 8:04 P.M. Absent:
None.
Motion by Harker, seconded by Adams to approve the minutes as read.
Voting Aye: Bolger, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Adams, Schaedel, Schooley,
Smith.
Voting Nay: None.
Absent: None.
Motion carried.
Mayor Stanek announced he was vetoing Council action taken at the
previous May 2, 1977 meeting, which overrode the Zoning Board of Appeals'
recommendation to deny a zoning change for operation of an automobile
agency for Buss Ford on South Route 31.
Motion by Smith, seconded by Datz, to override the Mayor's veto
and allow Buss Ford to construct its building as previously voted by
Council action.
Voting Aye: Bolger, Harker, Datz, Smith, Adams, Schaedel.
Voting Nay: Nolan, Stanek.

the Zoning Ordinance as presented.

Motion by Datz, seconded by Adams, to approve the preliminary plat
of Glacier Ridge as recommended by Jack Pepping, Chairman of the
Plan Commission.

Motion carried.
Motion by Smith, seconded by Schaedel, to authorize July 9 as
Tag Day for the McHenry Youth League.

Schooley, Smith.

Motion by Harker, seconded by Schaedel, to authorize July 23 as
Tag Day for the Johnsburg Boys League.

Mayor Stanek announced his nomination of Edward L. Parks of 1307
N. Park St. to the Zoning Board of Appeals.
Motion by Schooley, seconded by Nolan, to approve the Mayor's
appointment of Edward L. Parks.

Schooley, Smith.

Mayor Stanek announced his nomination of Mrs. Sandra Eckstein of
3706 W. Young Street to the Plan Commission.
Motion by Harker, seconded by Adams to approve the Mayor's
appointment of Mrs. Eckstein.

Schooley, Smith.

Motion by Harker, seconded by Schooley, to pass the 1977 Summer
Street Maintenance Program as presented by Supt. Fred Meyer.

Motion by Smith, seconded by Harker, to authorize Supt. Meyer to
advertise for bids for the 1977 Summer Street Maintenance Program.

Woodman to draw up plans and specifications for Well No. 6.

McHenry County Highway Department for Estimate No. 5 on the Pearl
Street Bridge project.

Motion by Datz, seconded by Nolan, to pass a resolution designating
depositories for city funds.

install both filters at Well No. 6.

report as read.

Motion by Schooley, seconded by Datz, to approve school attendance
for two ladies of the Police Department at a two-day training session.

Motion by Harker, seconded by Schooley, to pass the Utilities
Committee recommendation that cost of installation of water lines
on Clearbrook Avenue be shared 50-50 by the city and the participants
on Clearbrook.

Voting Nay: Bolger, Schaedel.

Motion by Schooley, seconded by Harker, to install street lights
at the corner of Lawn and Bonner and on Wiltshire in Ward 2.

Schaedel.

Motion carried.
Mayor Stanek reported that Judge Arthur Dunne of the Cook County
Circuit Court handed down a ruling Monday, May 16, 1977, upholding the
Illinois Liquor Commission's decision to close Jake's Dead End Lounge,
3311 W. Elm Street. Police Chief Kenneth Espey served notice to owner
Richard Jager on Monday, May 16, 1977 at 8:25 P.M. and closed the
business place.
