AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR A HOUSING ADVISORY COMMITTEE
WHEREAS, in 1985 the City participated in the Illinois Certified
Cities Program in order to participate in available grant funding; and
WHEREAS, the State of Illinois required that a Resolution be passed
establishing a Housing Advisory Group to study the community housing needs
and other worthwhile programs and projects; and
WHEREAS, the City no longer participates in the Certified Cities
Program but wishes to continue the advisory group's services to the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
McHENRY, McHENRY COUNTY, ILLINOIS, as follows:
SECTION 1. There is hereby established a City of McHenry Housing
Advisory Committee which is the replacement for the former Housing Advisory
Group.
SECTION 2. The Housing Advisory Committee goals shall be:
(a.) To study the community's housing needs;
(b.) To develop needy community housing programs;
(c.) To ensure that the community's zoning ordinance provides
for a variety of housing types;
(d.) To establish programs to encourage housing maintenance and
neighborhood beautification
(e.) To make recommendations to the City Council for
implementing their goals.
SECTION 3. The Committee shall consist of six members. Said members
to be the same members as appointed to the Housing Advisory Group in 1985 by
the Mayor with the consent of the City Council.
SECTION 4. The term of appointment shall be for two years effective as
of fiscal year beginning May 1, 1994.
Section 5. No City funds shall be spent by the Housing Advisory
Committee unless specifically authorized in advance by the City Council.
Section 6. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage, approval and publication, according to law.
