AN ORDINANCE REDISTRICTING THE CITY OF MCHENRY, ILLINOIS
WHEREAS, it appears from the 1990 Federal census that the number of inhabitants of
the City of McHenry, Illinois has increased from less than 15,000 to more than 15,000 but less
than 20,000 persons; and,
WHEREAS, Illinois Revised Statutes, Chapter 24, Section 3-4,7 mandates that the City
of McHenry be redistricted into five (5) wards in accordance with the provisions contained in
Section 3-4-10 of said statute.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MCHENRY, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City of McHenry, Illinois is hereby divided into five (5) wards the
boundaries of which are described as follows:
FIRST WARD
The first ward shall consist of all that territory and area within the corporate limits of the
City of McHenry, Illinois described as follows, to -wit:
Beginning at the intersection of the west shore of the Fox River
and the center line of Illinois State Route 120; thence southerly
along said west shore and following the City limits to the southeast
corner of Lot S in Block S of Country Club Estates Unit No. 2;
thence west along the south line of said Lot S to the southwest
corner thereof; thence in a straight line to the southeast corner of
Lot 10 in Block 7 of said subdivision; thence west along the south
boundary line of said subdivision and continuing in a straight line
to the center line of Bauer Road; thence north in a straight line
along the center line of Bauer Road to the north boundary of
Skyway Drive; thence west along said north boundary of Skyway
Drive and a continuation thereof in a straight line to the west
right-of-way line of Green Street; thence south along the west
right-of-way line of Green Street to the southern boundary of
Edgebrook Heights Annex; thence west along said southern
boundary line and continuing in a straight line therefrom to the
west boundary of the Chicago & Northwestern Transportation
Company right-of-way; thence north along said west right-of-way
line to the south line of Lillian Street; thence westerly along the
south right-of-way line of Lillian Street to the southeast line of Hay
Heights Subdivision; thence southerly along said southeast line to
the City limits; thence northwesterly along the City limits to the
center line of Crystal Lake Road; thence northerly along the center
line of Crystal Lake Road to the center line of Illinois State Route
120; thence west along the center line of Illinois State Route 120
to its intersection with Boone Creek; thence northerly along Boone
Creek to its intersection with the west right-of-way line of the
Chicago & Northwestern Transportation Company; thence
southerly along said western right-of-way line to the center line of
Illinois State Route 120; thence easterly along the center line of
Illinois State Route 120 to the place of beginning.
SECOND WARD
The second ward shall consist of that territory and area within the corporate limits of the
City of McHenry described as follows, to -wit:
Beginning at the intersection of the west right-of-way line of the
Chicago & Northwestern Transportation Company tracks and the
northern boundary line of Nunda Township; thence west along the
north boundary line of Nunda Township to the southwest corner of
Lot 14 in Block 50 of Boone Valley Plat No. 12; thence north
along the west line of said Lot 14 to the northwest corner thereof;
thence in a straight line to the center line of Canterbury Drive;
thence along the center line of Canterbury Drive to its intersection
with the center line of Augusta Drive; thence north along the
center line of Augusta Drive to the center line of Dartmoor Drive;
thence west along the center line of Dartmoor Drive and
continuing in a straight line therefrom to Boone Creek; thence
north along Boone Creek to its intersection with the center line of
Illinois State Route 120; thence easterly along said center line to
its intersection with the center line of Crystal Lake Road; thence
southerly along the center line of Crystal Lake Road to its
intersection with the westerly continuation of the south line of Lot
38 in Kelter Estate Subdivision Unit No. 1; thence east along the
south line of said subdivision and north along the east line of said
subdivision to the City limits; thence easterly and northerly along
said City limits and continuing in a straight line to the center line
of Lillian Street; thence southerly along the center line of Lillian
Street to the west right-of-way line of the Chicago Northwestern &
Railroad Transportation Company; thence south along said west
right-of-way line to the place of beginning.

THIRD WARD
The third ward shall consist of all that territory and area within the corporate limits of
the City of McHenry described as follows, to -wit:
Beginning at the intersection of the west shore line of the Fox
River and the center line of Illinois State Route 120; thence
northerly along the west shore line of the Fox River and following
the City limits to the shore line of McCullom Lake; thence in a
southerly direction along the shore line of McCullom Lake to the
northwest corner of Lot 9 in Block 1 of Lakeland Park Unit No. 1
Subdivision; thence south along the west line of said Lot 9 to the
northwest corner of Lot 16 in Block 7 of said subdivision; thence
southerly along the west lines of Lots 16 and IS in said Block 7 to
the northwest corner of Lot 11 in Block 12 of said subdivision;
thence south along the west line of said Lot 11 and the west line
of Lot 11 in Block 13 of Lakeland Park Unit No. 2 Subdivision to
the center line of Knoll Avenue; thence south along the center line
of Knoll Avenue to the northwest corner of Lot 11 in Block 20 of
Lakeland Park Unit No. 2 Subdivision; thence south along the west
line of said Lot 11 and the west line of Lot 12 in Block 21 of said
Lakeland Park Unit No. 2 Subdivision to the center line of Illinois
State Route 120; thence easterly along said center line to its
intersection with the center line of Meadow Lane; thence north
along the center line of Meadow Lane to its intersection with the
center line of Willow Lane; thence east along the center line of
Willow Lane to the eastern boundary of Lakeland Shores Unit No.
2 Subdivision; thence north along said east boundary line to the
southern boundary of Lakeland Park Unit No. 4 Subdivision;
thence east along said southern boundary to the western boundary
of the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad Transportation Company
right-of-way; thence south along said western boundary to its
intersection with the center line of Illinois State Route 120; thence
easterly along the center line of said Illinois State Route 120 to the
place of beginning.
FOURTH WARD
The fourth ward shall consist of all that territory and area within the corporate limits of
the City of McHenry described as follows, to -wit:
Beginning at the northwest corner of Lot 9 in Block 1 of Lakeland
Park Unit No. 1 Subdivision; thence south along the west line of

said Lot 9 to the northwest corner of Lot 16 in Block 7 of said
subdivision; thence southerly along the west lines of Lots 16 and
15 in said Block 7 to the northwest corner of Lot 11 in Block 12
of said subdivision; thence south along the west line of said Lot 11
and the west line of Lot 11 in Block 13 of said subdivision to the
center line of Knoll Avenue; thence south along the center line of
Knoll Avenue to the northwest corner of Lot 11 in Block 20 of
Lakeland Park Unit No. 2 Subdivision; thence south along the west
line of said Lot 11 and the west line of Lot 12 in Block 21 of said
Lakeland Park Unit No. 2 Subdivision to the center line of Illinois
State Route 120; thence easterly along said center line to its
intersection with the center line of Meadow Lane; thence north
along the center line of Meadow Lane to its intersection with the
center line of Willow Lane; thence east along the center line of
Willow Lane to the eastern boundary of Lakeland Shores Unit No.
2 Subdivision; thence north along said east boundary line to the
southern boundary line of Lakeland Park Unit No. 4 Subdivision;
thence east along said southern boundary to the western boundary
of the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad Transportation Company
right-of-way; thence south along said western boundary to its
intersection with Boone Creek; thence southerly and westerly along
Boone Creek to its intersection with the City limits; thence west
along said City limits and continuing along said City limits to the
place of beginning.
FIFTH WARD
The fifth ward shall consist of all that territory and area within the corporate limits of
the City of McHenry described as follows, to -wit:
Beginning at the intersection of the west shore of the Fox River
and the northern boundary of Nunda Township; thence southerly
along said western shore line and following the City limits to its
intersection with the northern boundary of Nunda Township; thence
west on said Nunda Township boundary line to its intersection with
Boone Creek; thence northerly along Boone Creek to its
intersection with a line being the westerly continuation of the
center line of Dartmoor Drive; thence east along said continuation
line to the center line of Dartmoor Drive and continuing along the
center line of Dartmoor Drive to its intersection with the
continuation of the center line of Augusta Drive; thence south
along the center line of Augusta Drive to its intersection with the
center line of Canterbury Drive; thence easterly and southerly
along the center line of Canterbury Drive to its intersection with
the center line of Greenbrier Drive; thence in a straight line to the
northwest corner of Lot 14 in Block 50 of Boone Valley Plat No.

12; thence south along the west line of said Lot 14 to the north
boundary line of Nunda Township; thence east along the Nunda
Township line to its intersection with the center line of Green
Street; thence north along the center line of Green Street to its
intersection with the westerly continuation of the north right-of-way
line of Skyway Drive; thence east along said continuation line to
the center line of Bauer Road; thence south along the center line
of Bauer Road to its intersection with the westerly continuation of
the south boundary of Country Club Estates Unit No. 2; thence
east along the south line of said Country Club Estate Unit No. 2
Subdivision to its intersection with the City limits; thence south and
east along the said City limits to the place of beginning.
SECTION 2. All ordinances, or parts thereof, in conflict with the terms and provisions
hereof, be and the same are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be published in pamphlet form by and under the
authority of the corporate authorities of the City of McHenry, Illinois.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage,
approval and publication in pamphlet form, as provided by law.
