AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING CERTAIN TERRITORY TO
THE CITY OF McHENRY . ILLINOIS
WHEREAS, the territory hereinafter described is used
for highway purposes under the jurisdiction of the McHenry
County Highway Department, is not within the corporate
limits of any municipality, is contiguous to and is wholly
bounded by the corporate limits of the City of McHenry; and,
WHEREAS, the Corporate Authorities have determined that
the annexation of said territory will promote the public
health, welfare, safety and common good;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF McHENRY, McHENRY COUNTY, ILLINOIS, as follows:
SECTION 1. The following described territory is hereby
annexed to and made a part of the City of McHenry, Illinois,
pursuant to the authority contained in Illinois Revised
Statutes, Chapter 24, Section 7-1-10 (1989),
Part of the South Fraction of the West Fractional Half of the Northwest
Fractional Quarter of Fractional Section 1, Township 44 North, Range 8
East of the Third Principal Meridian, described as follows: Starting
at a point on the West line of said Fractional Northwest Quarter, which
is 656.25 feet North from the Southwest corner thereof, and which point
is the Southwest corner of the North Fractional Half of the said South
Fraction of the West Fractional Half of the Northwest Fractional
Quarter of said Section 1; thence North 87 degrees, 48 minutes East,
1300.8 feet to an iron stake for a place of beginning, and running
thence North 2 degrees, 12 minutes West, 170.2 feet to a point; thence
North 85 degrees, 57 minutes West, 130 feet to a point; thence North 12
degrees, 18 minutes East, 100 feet to a point; thence South 85 degrees,
57 minutes East, 275 feet, more or less, to the West bank of Fox River;
thence Southwesterly along the said West bank of Fox River, to a point
which is North 87 degrees, 48 minutes East of the place of beginning;
thence South 87 degrees, 48 minutes West, to the place of beginning, in
McHenry County, Illinois.
SECTION 2.
That the boundary lines of the City of
McHenry, Illinois, be and they are hereby enlarged and
extended to include within the corporate boundaries the
above described territory and shall include all of every
highway within the area annexed.
SECTION 3. That a certified copy of this ordinance,
together with an accurate map of the territory hereby
annexed, shall be recorded in the Office of the Recorder of
Deeds of McHenry County, Illinois, and filed in the Office
of the County Clerk of McHenry County, Illinois.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage and approval according
to law.
