McHENRY AMERICAN LEGION,
POST 491, has filed a Petition with the Zoning Board of
Appeals of the City of McHenry requesting a conditional use
permit for a private club for Veterans where liquor will be
served on the premises in regard to the following described
real estate:
The Northeasterly twenty-four (24) feet of the
Southwesterly thirty-four (34) feet of the
Easterly ninety (90) feet of Lot One (1) Block
Nineteen (19) of property described in Deed
Record 261, page 435 of the original plat of
McHenry lying Westerly of Fox River in Section
Twenty-six (26), Township Forty-five (45)
North Range Eight (8) East of the Third
Principal Meridian in McHenry County,
Illinois.

Commonly known as: 1331 N. Riverside Drive
McHenry, IL 60050
WHEREAS, the property is located approximately 32 feet
South of the Northwest corner of the intersection of Pearl
Street and North Riverside Drive; and
WHEREAS, the property is presently zoned C-4 Downtown
Commercial District which pursuant to City ordinance would
permit the premises to be used as a meeting hall for a
private club for Veterans but does not permit liquor to be

served on the premises thereby requiring Petitioner to
request a conditional use permit; and
WHEREAS, a Petition was filed with the City of McHenry,
McHenry County, Illinois, requesting a hearing on the
Petition; and
WHEREAS, a hearing on said Petition was held before the
Zoning Board of Appeals in the manner and form as prescribed
by Ordinance and Statute; and
WHEREAS, as a result of said hearing, the taking of
evidence and viewing of exhibits advanced thereat, the Zoning
Board of Appeals of the City of McHenry did recommend by
unanimous vote to the City Council the granting of the
requested conditional use permit to operate a meeting hall
for private club for Veterans where liquor will be served on
the premises; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has considered the
recommendations submitted by the Zoning Board of Appeals.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City
Council of the City of McHenry, McHenry County, Illinois,
that the above described property be granted a conditional
use permit to operate as a meeting hall for a private club
for Veterans where liquor will be served on the premises.
This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage as provided by law.
