HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances - O-89-507 - 08/16/1989 - AUTHORIZE SALE BY PUBLIC AUCTION0-89-507 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SALE BY PUBLIC AUCTION OF PERSONAL PROPERTY OWNED BY THE CITY OF McHENRY WHEREAS, in the opinion of at least three -fourths of the corporate author- ities of the City of McHenry, it is no longer necessary or useful to or for the best interests of the City of McHenry to retain ownership of the personal property hereinafter described; and WHEREAS, it has been determined by the Mayor and the Council of the City of McHenry to sell said personal property at a public auction to be held on Saturday, September 16, 1989. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF McHENRY: SECTION ONE: Pursuant to Section 11-76-4 of the Illinois Municipal Code, Illinois Revised Statutes, C24, Section 11-76-4, the Mayor and Council of the City of McHenry find that the following described personal property: VIN. SECTION TWO: Pursuant to said Section 11-76-4, the Director of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed to sell the aforementioned personal property now owned by the City of McHenry at public auction on Saturday, September 16, 1989 at the Arlington Heights Public Works, 222 Ridge in Arlington Heights, Illinois at 11:00 A.M. to the highest bidder on said personal property. SECTION THREE: The Director of Public Works is hereby authorized and may di- rect the Northwest Municipal Conference to advertise the sale of the aforementioned personal property in a newspaper published within the community before the date of said public auction. SECTION FOUR: The Director of Public Works is hereby authorized and may di- rect the Northwest Municipal Conference to enter into an agreement for the sale of said personal property. The auction shall be conducted in the manner set forth in the Specifications for the sale of vehicles attached hereto and made a part of this ordinance. SECTION FIVE: No bid which is less than the minimum value set forth in the list of property to be sold shall be accepted, unless a lower amount is authorized by the Director of Public Works or his representative at the auction. SECTION SIX: Upon payment of the full auction price the Director of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed to convey and transfer title to the afore- said personal property to the successful bidder. SECTION SEVEN: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and af- ter its passage, by a vote of at least three -fourths of the corporate authorities, and approval in the manner provided by law.
