REDISTRICTING THE CITY OF McHENRY
WHEREAS, certain territories have been recently annexed to the City of
McHenry, Illinois; and
WHEREAS, certain statutory requirements exist in regard to equal ap-
portionment of representation through the application of the "one man, one
vote" doctrine; and
WHEREAS, such acquisition of territory and equitable reapportionment re-
quires the locating of all corporate lands within legally conforming ward
lines as established by the City Council of the City of McHenry, Illinois;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
McHENRY, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City is hereby divided into four (4)
wards, t e boundaries of which are divided as follows,
FIRST WARD
All that territory and area within the corporate limits of
the City of McHenry described as follows, to -wit:
All that part of the City of McHenry located East of the
Chicago and Northwestern railroad right-of-way and South
of the following described boundary line, to -wit: be-
ginning at the junction of the center line of John Street
(extended) and the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad's
right-of-way line; thence Southeasterly along the center
line of John Street to the Northerly line of Riverstream
Subdivision: thence Northeasterly along the Northerly
line of Riverstream Subdivision to the Westerly shore line
of the Fox River, for the ending.
SECOND WARD
All that territory and area within the corporate limits of
the City of McHenry described as follows, to -wit:
Beginning at the intersection of the center lines of the
Illinois State Route 120 and Crystal Lake Road; thence
Westerly and Northerly along the center line of Illinois
State Route 120 to the Northerly line of Whispering Oaks
Park extended Easterly; thence Westerly in a straight line
along the Northerly line of Whispering Oaks Park as ex-
tended to the center line of Boone Creek; thence South-
westerly along said center line of Boone Creek to the
South section line of Section 33 McHenry Township; thence
Easterly and continuing along the City limits boundary
line to its intersection with the center line of Royal
Drive and continuing along said center line of Royal Drive
as it changes to the center line of Front Royal Avenue to
its intersection with the center line of Hanley Street;
thence Southerly and Easterly along said center line to
its intersection with the center line of Crystal Lake
Road; thence Northeasterly along the center line of Crys-
tal Lake Road to the point of beginning.
THIRD WARD
All that territory and area within the corporate limits of
the City of McHenry described as follows, to -wit;
Beginning at the intersection of the center lines of Front
Royal Avenue and Chesterfield Drive, thence Northeasterly
along the center line of Front Royal Avenue to the center
line of Hanley Street, thence Southeasterly to the center
line of Crystal Lake Road; thence Northeasterly along said
center line to its intersection with the center line of
Illinois State Route 120; thence Westerly and North-
westerly along said center line to its junction with the
East bank of Boone Creek; thence Northerly and North-
easterly along said creek to the centerline of the Chicago
and Northwestern Railroad right-of-way; thence Northerly
along the center line of the Chicago and Northwestern
Railroad right-of-way to the point of intersection with
the Northerly line of McHenry Lakes Estates Subdivision;
thence Easterly and continuing along the City limit boun-
dary line to the Westerly shore line of the Fox River;
thence Southerly along said shore line to the northerly
line of Riverstream Subdivision; thence Southwesterly
along said Northerly line to the center of John Street;
thence Northwesterly along said center line to the center
line of the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad right-of-
way; thence South and Southwesterly along said right-cf-
way center line to the Southerly most City limit boundary
line along the West right-of-way line of the Chicago and
Northwestern Railroad; thence following said City limit
boundary line to a point of intersection (extended) with
the center line of Crystal Lake Road; thence Southwesterly
to the center line of Royal Drive and following said cen-
ter line Northwesterly and Northerly to the point of be-
ginning.
FOURTH WARD
All that territory and area within the corporate limits of
the City of McHenry described as follows, to -wit:
Beginning at the intersection of the center line of the
Illinois State Route 120 and its junction with Boone
Creek; thence Westerly and Northerly along the center line
of Illinois State Route 120 to the Northerly line of Whis-
pering Oaks Park extended Easterly; thence in a straight
line Westerly along the Northerly line of Whispering Oaks
Park as extended to the center line of Boone Creek; thence
Southwesterly along said center line of Boone Creek to the
South section line of Section 33, McHenry Township; thence
Westerly and Northerly and continuing along the City lim-
its boundary line to its intersection with the North line
of Section 27, McHenry Township east of the Chicago and
Northwestern railroad right-of-way; thence Westerly to the
center line of the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad right-
of-way; thence Southerly along the center line of said
railroad right-of-way to the center line of Boone Creek;
thence Southerly along said center line to the place of
beginning.
Section 2. All Ordinances, or parts thereof in conflict
with t is Ordinance, are, to the extent of such conflict,
hereby repealed.
Section 3. This Ordinance shall be in full force and ef-
fect from and after its passage, approval and publication
as by law provided.
