RESOLUTION
Resolution approving the submittal of an application for
Illinois Tomorrow Corridor Planning Grant Funds
WHEREAS, the McHenry City Council, in conjunction with the McHenry County
Highway Department and the McHenry County Economic Development Corporation, has been
working to identify the travel patterns and demographics of McHenry County commuters to
coordinate existing service and increase transit service in the McHenry County area; and
WHEREAS, to obtain the information, the McHenry County Highway Department
wishes to develop an extensive county -wide public transit plan through a needs' assessment of
employers, senior citizens, school systems, disabled, minorities, and low income households; and
WHEREAS, a labor study component will review the quality and quantity of skilled and
unskilled employees and ascertain the skills needed of employers within McHenry County to
reduce the number of individuals leaving the County for work; and
WHEREAS, considerable funds, estimated at approximately $350,000, will be required
to complete the plan; and
WHEREAS, funding is available through the Illinois Tomorrow Corridor Planning
Grant, which will pay 90% of the cost; and
WHEREAS, McHenry County will be responsible for payment of the local match of
10%, not -to -exceed $35,000, if, in fact, the grant is awarded.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the McHenry City Council goes on
record as supporting the McHenry County Highway Department application for the Illinois
Tomorrow Corridor Planning Grant to assist in underwriting the cost of the McHenry County
Labor Study, ascertaining commuter travel patterns, and developing demographics information.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the McHenry City Clerk is hereby directed to
forward a copy of this resolution to the McHenry County Highway Department and that it be
included in the Illinois Tomorrow Corridor Planning Grant Application submittal.
