REDISTRICTING THE CITY OF McHENRY
WHEREAS, certain territories have been recently
annexed to the City of McHenry, Illinois; and
WHEREAS, certain statutory requirements Pxist in regard
to equal apportionment of representation through the
application of the "one man, one vote" doctrine; and
WHEREAS, such acquisition of territory and equitable
reapportionment requires the locating of all corporate
lands within legally conforming ward lines as established
by the City Council of the City of McHenry, Illinois;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF McHENRY, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City is hereby divided into
four (4) wards, the boundaries of which are divided
as follows:
FIRST WARD
All that territory and area within the corporate
limits of the City of McHenry described as follows,
to - wit:
All that part of the City of McHenry located East of
the Chicago and Northwestern railroad right-of-way
and South of the following described boundary line,
to -wit: beginning at the junction of the center line
of Kane Avenue and the Chicago and Northwestern
Railroad's right-of-way line; thence Easterly along
the center line of Kane Avenue to the center line of
Green Street; thence North along the center line of
Green Street to the center line of John Street;
thence Southeasterly along the center line of John
Street to the Northerly line of Riverstream
Subdivision; thence Northeasterly along the Northerly
line of Riverstream Subdivision to the Westerly shore
line of the Fox River, for the ending.
SECOND WARD
All that territory and area within the corporate
limits of the City of McHenry described as follows,
to -wit:
Beginning at the intersection of the center lines of
the Illinois State Route 120 and Crystal Lake Road;
thence Westerly and Northerly along the center line
of Illinois State Route 120 to the Northerly line of
Whispering Oaks Park extended Easterly; thence
Westerly in a straight line along the Northerly line
of Whispering Oaks Park as extended to the common
boundary line of Sections 27 and 28 in McHenry
Township; thence North along said common boundary
line to the center line of Illinois State Route 120;
thence Westerly along the said center line of
Illinois State Route 120 to the Western most City
limits boundary line on the South side of said
Illinois State Route 120; thence Southerly along the
said City limit boundary line and continuing along
said boundary line to Crystal Lake Road; thence
Northeasterly along the City limit boundary line to
its intersection with the center line of Royal Drive
and Crystal Lake Road; thence continuing
Northeasterly along the center line of Crystal Lake
Road to the point of beginning aforesaid.
THIRD WARD
All that territory and area within the corporate
limits of the City of McHenry described as follows,
to -wit:
Beginning at the junction of the Southwest side of
Lillian Street and the Westerly right of way line of
the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad, thence
Westerly therefrom along the Southerly City limit
boundary line to the center line of Crystal Lake
Road; thence Northeasterly along the Center line of
Crystal Lake Road to its intersection with the center
line of Illinois State Route 120 and continuing in a
straight line northerly to the center line of the
Chicago and Northwestern Railroad right-of-way;
thence Northerly along the center line of the said
Chicago and Northwestern Railroad right-of-way to the
Northermost City limit boundary line on the East side
of said railroad right-of-way; thence continuing
along the City limit boundary line to the Westerly
shore line of the Fox River; thence Southerly along

said shore line to the Northerly line of Riverstream
Subdivision thence Southwesterly along said Northerly
line to the center line of John Street; thence
Northwesterly along said John Street center line to
the center line of Green Street; thence South along
the center line of Green Street to its intersection
with the center line of Kane Avenue; thence West
along the center line of Kane Avenue to the center
line of the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad
right-of-way; thence Southerly along the center line
of said railroad to the point of beginning.
FOURTH WARD
All that territory and area within the corporate
limits of the City of McHenry described as follows,
to -wit:
Beginning at the intersection of the center lines of
Illinois State Route 120 and Crystal Lake Road;
thence Westerly and Northerly along the center line
of Illinois State Route 120 to the Northerly line of
Whispering Oaks Park extended Easterly; thence in a
straight line Westerly along the Northerly line of
Whispering Oaks Park as extended to the common
boundary line of Section 27 and 28 in McHenry
Township; thence North along said common boundary
line to the center line of Illinois State Route 120;
thence Westerly along the said center line of
Illinois State Route 120 to the Western most City
limits boundary line on the North side of said
Illinois State Route 120; thence Northerly along the
said City limit boundary line and continuing along
said City limit boundary line to its intersection
with the center line of the Chicago and Northwestern
Railroad right-of-way; thence Southerly along the
center line of said railroad right-of-way to the
center line of Illinois State Route 120 thence
Westerly along said center line to the place of
beginning.

SECTION 2. All Ordinances, or parts thereof in
conflict with this Ordinance, are, to the extent of
such conflict, hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its approval, passage and
publication as is by statute provided.
